Space Siege is $5 right now at GamersGate. Has anyone played it before? It sounds kind of interesting, with the whole "humanity vs. technology" thing your character has going on throughout the game. You can either become a cybernetic creature of war, be 100% human, or mix and match.
I found that Space Siege missed its potential & the human.vs.cybernetic did not have much of a mid ground blend, it is more one or the other. A few people called it "Dungeon Siege Lite: A screensaver", and sadly, it is a bit fitting.
If you want a pure dungeon crawl with a sci-fi bend, $5 would solve it, just don't expect too much.

That's the biggest disapointement with the game, the whole human vs cyber that was "hyped" during the game previews is mostly non-existant. It doesn't change the plot, and as there as no "optional" quests at all in the game it doesn't even change the way peoples react or which quest become available or not.
Actually the only impact is on the "difficulty level", if you want the game to be easier then install all cybernetic implant you find, you will have more HP, you will take less damage and have better weapon, if you want the game to be a little more chalenging then remain 100% human.
But honestly, except for some boss fight, the game is pretty easy to begin with, in 100% cyber mode you literally walk through the lasts levels nearly completely unarmed.
It's not really a "bad game" it most of a Diablo-light, no real loot, no optional quest, limited customization and RPG element... it's worth 5$ but not that much more.

I looked at the screens and it appears to be a very forgettable type game. I will hold on to my $5.00 add and $1.00 and when ready get a DRM free GOG game! :o)
Yeah, doesn't sound like a game I'd enjoy. I'll hold out for a better game. Thanks!
DO NOT BUY. SERIOUSLY.
I love Chris Taylor/GPG, he's one of my fave game designers (second to Will Wright...), but this game is a fucking abomination. It's just so bad. The concept is great, the story is amazing, but it's just a complete failure in execution. Take this from a person who bought it on day one.
Well as someone who bought it yesterday for $4.99, I'm enjoying it. It certainly isn't worth a higher price tag, and I would never have considered buying it at $19.99 let alone anything higher. But for the current price, it's a good blast. In fact, I'm enjoying it more than Shadowgrounds and that one cost me more =/
I have played the demo and it was nothing worth of buying for me.
Space Siege should be under restraining orders to stay at least 500 yards away from anybody. The North Pole would be a good location to stash the rest of the copies currently in circulation.
you guys got over priced i got a copy for a massive price of £0.99 (or $0.75) it's not bad well not for a pound anyway lol
Hell the Dungeon Siege series were screensavers themselves. Sure were pretty ones though.
Oh and, because it needs to be said, the Chris Taylor of GPG/Dung Siege/Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander fame is not the same Chris Taylor of Fallout fame.
I remember when I played the demo I was ready to "turn it off" right before the end. Its a nice game but the demo didnt sell me on it. I just found it very, very bland.
I'll admit that I never finished it but that's kind of my motto.
My biggest gripe with it is that you can't move and shoot. So no effective strafing. The game was linear and tad boring and very lacking in detail (weapons, items, loot) but could have been a bit of fun if you could move and shoot.
Karl
for $5 you really cannot go wrong for any game.
its dungeon siege lite............ infact i take that back. its nothing at all like dungeon siege. it doesnt even deserve 'siege' as part of its name.
space siege is crap normally but it aint crap at that price. maybe aswell shell out a few cents worth of mcdonalds just to see for yourself.
