Andy_Panthro: I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that winning oscars can provide a big boost in DVD sales, so really Sony are just ensuring that they'll not make as much revenue as they could have. Hopefully the shareholders will go ape.

Nah, box offices decide everything... Oscars don't matter nearly as much as special effects.

tb87670: Seriously? How can people with such low IQ's live past puberty and also have more money than the rest of us at the same time?
avatar
stonebro: Because of our societial imperative to take care of eachother. I swear, natural selection just doesn't get it's proper way in humans anymore.

Very true, it would only take a major disaster to strip off the genetic detritus that exists in the world today because after a major disaster only the sharp and fit will live. Basic Darwinism theory. I want to see a show where city people and rich folks are put in the woods for a few months and see who lives (not survivor though, that's fake as breast implants). That would be fine for cable TV.

I second that.
I have to wonder if many businesses today even understand buisness besides making money in the present. The Achilles hill for companies must be there intelligence. Now if only I was a jedi.

Syme: Is Sony required to watermark DVDs sent to screeners? If so, Sony may have a point here, and it's the MPAA that is to blame in this case. Not that I like Sony.

Except the MPAA is essentially chosen and made up by the big studios... so if the MPAA is to blame, so is Sony.
Isn't it easy to remove watermarks from videos? I seem to remember virtualdub could do it years ago...
