Since I cannot get a reply from the main forums i'll post here.

I cannot get the patch to work for the original game and the game itself will not run without windowed mode. Is there any work around for these problems?
What version of the game have you, what patch are you trying to use, what OS have you got.

BUMP :)
I know I ran the first game fullscreen just fine a few months ago. Win7 64bit.

I didn't play it for long though because the game didn't have resolution options and looked god damn horrible.

If gog.com didn't supply you that patch, then it is not needed. The windowed part I cannot help you it. But you could try the game in another different system and see the results.

Both win7 computers crashes at the first cutscene unless its in windowed mode. The patch im talking about comes with the game, The universal update.

Oh! In that case, as unhelpful as this may sound, you should try to contact gog.com's support.

Yeah I was afraid of that :)

If I'm not mistaken some mod stated in some thread that you should not apply this patch if the base game runs fine. IIRC it's meant for people who run into errors with the unpatched version and does not improve the game in any way for people who can run the main version. So how does the unpatched version work for you?

Fullscreen it doesnt run at all... windowed mode it does work fine BUT its in such a small screen because the resolution feature doesnt work with it. Or so it seems.

Ah, I thought that's what happens after applying the patch. And you say applying the patch itself doesn't work? How so? I mean, does the setup of the update fail (or at least report a fail)?

The patch says its not compatible with the fresh install. Its an issue addressed in the forum but no solutions as far as i can see.
Is GOG.com's Tomb Raider 1 a DOSBox game? If so then it might be the conf file that needs editing for compatibility with your system. I'm afraid I don't have the game, though.

I guess I know why it doesn't work anymore. The main installer is version 2.0.0, the patch is 1.0.1. Apparently the main installer is newer than the patch. The question is whether it has made the patch obsolete or the staff just forgot to adjust the patch. Can't be sure without an official statement, I guess.

I must admit I was wondering that myself... but there really wasnt anywhere for me to question it haha.
