showracemenu tends to crash if you have a lot of face/body/hair/etc mods installed, there's another mod that fixes this problem (I forgot what its called), be sure to get that if you're going to install a lot of mods that alter physical appearance.

Good advice, I haven't played Skyrim for quite some time now, so my advice is bound to be a bit obsolete, sorry ^^

At least as far back as Oblivion (and probably before that) there have been vaults where people create saved games with good faces. You go find the character type you want, get the face you want, then play until it asks you to review your character and you can change the stats while keeping a face that someone else made to look half-decent.

It *can* be done, making decent faces. I can't, for the life of me. But search Skyrim saved games and you'll find sites with characters with decent faces.
