ya its true sitting a lot makes people gain huge amount of fat, cursed rpgs and adventure games where the pace of gameplay is slower than action games that can eat and play.....

the only gamer wise remedy is thru consoles specially kinect and ps move, i have started to sweat it out a bit playing some of the sports championship games on the ps3 which is good :D
Several of the claims on that site don't even pass the laugh test, so I'm not exactly inclined to take the rest of the information there particularly seriously. Now, I'm sure sedentary lifestyles result in significantly more health problems than moderately active lifestyles, but exaggerated claims, scare tactics, and outright falsehoods aren't exactly going to help to provide people with the kind of information they need to make informed choices about their lifestyle and health.
Sitting all day may be bad for you but so is standing in place. Your body wasn't built for it. You'll get varicose veins.

I think the real solution is to be suspended in some sort of liquid. Mountain Dew perhaps?

But being constantly immersed is bad for your skin so you'd need to be wearing some sort of wetsuit or something... :)

doccarnby: Everything kills you. I'd suggest just doing what's comfortable for you. I decided 'fuck it' when I heard that you have to sleep exactly 7 hours. Less than that, an you have a higher chance of heart failure. More than that, you have a higher chance of just dropping dead.
Seven in every how long? I'm up for between (twenty-four and thirty-six). Then I sleep for between twelve and eighteen.

{EDIT}
Sorry, for some reason I added fourteen hours subconsciously. Corrections in parentheses.

Eh, I can't remember. Been quite a while since I read that. At least a year and a half.

Zenphic: I didn't know sitting at 135 degrees would be a good idea. Been doing that for ages!
lol, no shit, gamers should be fine then: we all are the masters of the slouch!

lukipela: This just in: If you post a bunch of unrelated facts you can prove anything!
Studies show that 93% of the population has been conditioned enough to treat anything with numbers, percents and graphs as reliable and 70% more likely to represent reality than the same information without numbers.

Why don't they stop pissing in my drinking water?
Got news fer ya. You don't make it out alive anyway, so eat, drink, be merry, and sit on your ass and play as many games as you can while you can.
I've always felt that you know instinctively if you are healthy or not, and at that stage you either care or you don't. I mean, do any of these studies actually tell us anything that we don't already know? I grew up with very health obsessed parents, to the point that my wife finds it funny how I deny myself food cravings, walk instead of drive when I can, and usually can't sit down for more than an hour.

And yet, philosophically, I don't do this beacuse of a fear of dying. I simply hate that feeling of lethargy I get if I let my fitness slide beyond a certain point. My motivation for staying healthy is to enjoy my life as it is now, not to put off the inevitable that I have no control over!
Yep. And tell me that i've got my spine twisted because i'm sitting 4 hours in a chair like this:

http://www.computerdeskinfo.com/s/10027/MyProducts/alera_ni42cs10b_mid_back_swivel_tilt_computer_chair.jpg

and not because i'm sitting 8 hours in a chair like this in school:

so I'm 130% dead from what I gather from these 'facts'

Oh school chairs, you'll be the death of us all, or at least the discomfort.
I never got wooden ones though, usual shaped plastic with a kink in the back carefully positioned for maximum spine destroying capabilities.
