In case you have been living under a tree, it is clear that a lot of people on these forums feel very strongly about things like DRM, directions companies have taken with their favorite franchises, and platforms in general.
So, in honor of the season (we must worship the cold weather that makes people nice for no apparent reason...), what say we all try and say a few nice things about the things we tend to bash every chance we get? I mean, it isn't like we hate every single thing about them (and if you do, just get out of the thread now :p).
I'll start with two:
While I am not the biggest fan of the direction that Ubisoft has taken the Tom Clancy games, I have to say that they have found a way to tie them all together into one huge intertwined story that I love. The events of Vegas 1 tie directly to Vegas 2. The war that Sam Fisher starts is fought in Ghost Recon 2. Hell, I think the GRAWs even tie into the Vegases. That is how large linked franchises should be. The events of one game directly impact the events of others (even if they are linear).
Same thing with how they have handled Might and Magic. HoMM V as a prequel to Dark Messiah is just a wonderful idea. Not as drastic a change (since I think the HoMMs and MMs were pretty linked, to an extent), but still nice.
I'll also say something nice about Halo. While I am not huge on the level design, I have to admit that they have the best integration of vehicles and infantry gameplay ever. The competitors (Tribes, Battlefield, and OFP1/ArmA) might have gotten some aspects better, but only Halo has managed to tie things together so well. It isn't a case of "Infantry Vs Infantry, Infantry Vs Armor, Armor Vs Armor, and Armor Vs Infantry". It is just one huge "Team Vs Team" mentality that I really love. XMP (Unreal 2's multiplayer) got close, but nobody really played that, so yeah...
So yeah. If you can bring yourself to put aside your hatred for whatever, try and say something nice. There are no absolute bads and no absolute goods (except Camel Spiders, those things are absolute bads), so let's play in the oil-soaked grey snow.

Command & Conquer : 3rd "episode", while not great for me, was playable, enjoyable even, and the Ion Cannon animation/sound effect was excellent.
I suppose I'm waiting for the final part, and hope it's not over-inflated graphics at cost of gameplay.
Ditto with Diablo2 - didn't really do anything for me, but I am waiting for D3.
Now just HURRY UP and finish the damn games already!!! :-P
Lucasarts Adventure games are sometimes annoying to play, but man have they got the best stories i've ever seen
I may be critical of Steam, but it is a ground-breaking service and it contains many convenient, useful features.
Also, if I piss you off, just remember that in person, we'd probably get along over brews and some LAN Starcraft/whatever.

I came on here to say exactly this.
I'll add that while Birmingham City FC might be scummy as hell and will never amount to half of what Aston Villa do, they are playing really well at the moment. Fair play to them.
Steam may be the most underhand form of DRM I've come across, but I have to admit it's probably helping keep (mainstream) PC gaming alive right now.
Being a Liverpool supporter, my feelings towards Manchester United are not exactly warm, but they will lean towards that way if they continue this 2nd place (or lower) streak they're on. Drop down to 3rd or 4th and I may have to consider taking them out on a date!

Alcohol and rage.. Are you sure that you want to go down that road?
Something good... Umm...
While life is complete bullshit most of the times, there are moments, as small as they are, that really make you perk up and gain a small amount of love for this existence. May it be a gesture, smile, spoken word, or what have you.
From shit, a flower does grow. Or something.
*ahem*
Yes, well.. Back to cynical brooding.
Something Nice Thread.
Done.
