Mel Smith died of a heart attack in his home yesterday morning. He will be missed. I grew up watching "Alas, Smith & Jones", and will always remember him fondly. The world has lost a very funny comedian.

Saw that a few times, after it's time obviously. That guy already looked like he wasn't taking care of himself...

Of course, I also remember him from "The Pit of Dithpair!"

Yeah - he wasn't known for living a healthy lifestyle. It's probably not politically correct but his weight was part of the reason he was funny. It was just the way he stood and the faces he pulled. I still have a vinyl album of Not the 9 oc news and it was as funny listening to just the audio as it was watching sketches.

He will be missed but im amazed he lasted that long. He went through a long and heavy painkiller addiction.
