Hack and slash like there's no tomorrow!

Hammerwatch, a fast-paced fantasy hack-and-slash with exciting multi-player modes and lots of pixelated nostalgia, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.99 for the first week!

Hacking is fun, slashing is too! In a fantasy world what else should you do? Go, grab a hammer, a mace, or a sword, and strike against all evil, corruption, and woe. There's bound to be some riches to find on your way, so remember: loot bodies of all that you slay. Take some friends on adventure, strength in number lies, just don't linger too long when a companion dies. Whatever freaks cross our path with their devious tricks, we'll dismantle their pixels with stabs, jabs, slashes, and kicks. Dungeons, oh sweet dungeons, let us answer your call--experience points and glory, that's the true hero's goal.

Hammerwatch is a modern indie game with the heart of a classic. The main idea--conquering dungeons and other formidable locations--is almost as old as computer gaming itself. The execution, however, makes it a perfect pick for contemporary gamers as well. With fast-paced, dynamic gameplay full of nice ideas, optional local and online multi-player, and even a scenario editor that allows for creation of your very own adventures from scratch (including new graphics!), this little pixelated gem can bring you hours, and hours of nostalgic hack-and-slash fun!

Unleash the pixelated fantasy mayhem with all the right RPG flavors with Hammerwatch, for only $7.99 on GOG.com. The 20% discount offer lasts until Thursday, August 29, at 9:59AM GMT.
Looks good. Is this a roquelike?

Piranjade: Looks nice and it also sounds very nice. I like the music I in the trailer a lot. The soundtrack could be nice for some P&P RPG nights. :-)
Wishlisted for now.
Always a plus when these games come with the full soundtrack.

no, it uses checkpoints...
Another pass for me but its likely a good release for many people.

Two fairly interesting releases today, a good GOG week for me!
My question, is it doable as a SP game? By that I mean can you win it with just your own bad self or will it be an exercise in futility without some help?

Regardless I am somehow still oddly drawn to this one, like moth to flame.

That doesn't bode well, does it?

And no, DRM-free but no GOG keys I imagine for the same reason they're didn't want to give GOG keys for the groupees bundle, because it would devalue the GOG product. Would be nice if the option became more common in the future though, but I can understand how the benefits might not really outweigh the loss of sales for GOG, it's really a long term strategy which is something they may not be big enough for.

Still, at $7.99 it seems like a nice game to pick up on GOG regardless. Certainly has a style that fits in, despite being a new game.
That argument is tiring. Doing it all the time would devalue the products and means less sales for GOG overall. And if they did it for many games, well i think most of us prefer GOG to be around right?.

Good question tinyE, I enjoy games that can be played multiplayer, but don't have to be. One question I had as a follow-up for which I didn't see anything on the store page or in the release information was what control schemes are available? Does it have controller support, and can you have more than one controller or if you want local co-op do you have to divide the keyboard like some of the older games with local play?

And with online play can you also have coop local players as in 2 players local and 2 more online at the same time?

I know it supports the Xbox 360 controller without any additional software to use it.

I am not sure yet about the rest as I don't have a second controller at home to try.
