Windows 8 has started doing this thing where it locks out my access to editing and moving files /folders for a couple of minutes when many files or folders are being created and shifted around.

For instance I just installed Men of War and when I went to go and add the patches (even as admin) there was an error stating that the patch could not write to file and would not install completely.

After waiting two or three mins for the whatever to release control of the folder I was able to install the patches properly.

This was not an issue earlier this year but has been happening ALOT recently.

Note that whatever is locking my access to these files (when it happens) is impervious to any settings I can change under security.

Unlocker software lists only 'System' as the culprit process.

Bump
check antivirus / windows defender - put to off
on win 8 it's a good idea to install on other partitions than C:

maybe if you add you name to permissions on folder game
Propeties /Security /Advanced -Change Owner / replace owner on subcontaiers ... etc

Thanks. I thought I had Defender switched off but it might've found a way to turn itself on again with an update or something.

In security I gave all privileges (except Special) for everyone except 'Creator Owner' which, even as admin, I was not permitted to alter. So maybe the folder is owned by Creator Owner.

Unfortunately though this isn't a one off event with just one folder. Editing controls are taken away from me temporarily every time I have to move multiple folders or documents around.
