some of you may have noticed two new buttons on the steam main page.
http://store.steampowered.com/
Top Games Under $10 and Top Games under $5.
it's completely possible (however unlikely) that steam added those buttons, just to advertise that it has cheap titles too.
But again, giving up your freedoms for a lower price is a dangerous thing.
I believe that Steam has noticed GOG, specifically the price points and has decided to compete, but I do not think that they will ever go DRM free.
Or it could be a set up for a Black Friday sale.
yay,
Y.A.S.T.
I think you're over estimating the importance of GOG if you really think they have influenced Valve with this.
Especially considering that this feature used to exist on Steam prior to the current store design. All they've done is taken their sweet time in adding it back.
I thought Steam always had this. Oh well. People don't have much cash, and it's impulse buy pricing. Not just GOG, but plenty of places are doing this, both online and iRL.
Listing DLC under the $5/10 lists irks me a little though. Kinda out of place in this area, even if it fits.

Yep, showing DLC is lame.
EDIT: And why another Steam topic? Jesus.

Haha! Those pussies have finally succumbed to the whim of GOG's +9 Sword of DRM Slaying...I should really, really go to bed.
I was about to post this too, but wasn't in the mood for bashing. Listing DLCs, laughable.
I don't think it is a GOG effect. Maybe they'll expand that Alienware partnership to Dell, then they'll have a larger client base, be it casual or under $10 games. And for selling those 300 DLCs for that train sim game.

I don't think it's directly related to GOG, although that would certainly be awesome. steam is just following the competition, most of the other online distribution websites have some sort of search by price feature and now steam does too. It's a good move on their part I think since now people can find good deals way faster.
They've always had the ability to sort the master list of games by price -- the buttons are just a shortcut. They probably noticed a lot of people like myself that only buy heavily discounted games from them. The overlap between the Steam and GOG catalogue is fairly small in relation to the number of games Steam sells.
