Just finished it. It was a neat game. Tense and scary. It got a little weird by the end (you won't like it if you're not into supernatural/sci-fi type stuff), but it fit the story they built, and I found it really enjoyable. Well worth the $20 price tag, despite being fairly short at about 4 hours. I'd say a speed run could be done in about 2.5 hours though.

wow that's a bit short for me. Sure gameplay time is not a measure for the game experience but still. For me this is waiting for a discount. These past few year i found for myself that newer releases just aren't fun or good enough for the price they are asking. They also have no replay value whatsover, gaming turned into a disposable commidity for me (play it once and never again), but i still play a lot of game from previous gens , some of them i have beaten countless of times. There are exceptions but these are becoming rare and rarer. Hence the waiting for a discount on a 20$ 4 hour long game. I have felt that I waisted my money for far too many times.

Outlast looks great though and i hope for the developers it does well and I hope for us that it comes here (so voted).

Random question: Can you see if Outlast runs without Steam, i.e., just double-clicking the program while Steam isn't running? A bunch of Steam games do this, and if Outlast is the same way, I won't have to wait for a DRM-free version. Thanks in advance!

That is a problem I have with a lot of games nowadays - short playtime and zero replay value. And 20 USD for 4 hours is a bit too much for me, especially when this seems like a game you will not play again.

Other than that the game does look awesome and I am sure I will check it out when it comes with a discount.

I don't think so. Even moving it to a new location and using the non-Steam launcher.exe prompted it to search for Steam. =/

When I want calm, I go to Cry. He's one of the most mellow YouTubers I've seen. Unfortunately, he's going to be livestreaming Outlast. (Unfortunate because that means the full playthrough won't be put up on YouTube.

Aw, crap. :( Well, thanks for trying. If I end up getting it, I may try to uninstall Steam and see if it runs then -- Funny enough, there's at least one game that tries to search for Steam if the client is installed, and launches just fine if it isn't.
