langurmonkey: I'm starting to hate Origin. Do you know that in order to change the email address associated with your Origin account, you have to call EA...

Barefoot_Monkey: Ouch. Is that a new thing? I've changed my Origin email address in the past and didn't have to jump through any hoops.
New, I believe.
I saw the thread title, and immediately rushed in say something along the lines of: "Your opinion is wrong because Origin was fricken amazing!" Then I saw that that isn't the Origin your talking about. Now I just feel stupid.
Origin sucks threads, woaw. Is it 2011 again ? Did they finally invent a time machine.
If you don't like it, don't use it. Why would you complain about it on a GOG forum, contact their support instead.
This is likely a combination of the huge hit on the servers from the HIB as well as their latest client update, which seems to be fairly extensive. I've been using Origin for a few of their games for a while and haven't had any major issues with it. For the most part, it works great for me. Give it a little time and I'm pretty sure they'll have it worked out.

*just fired it up and there's a notice that checkout and code redemption may be down. So yeah, they're having some issues there. They'll get it worked out.
Another reset.
I stop the download,I'll wait a few days, maybe then I will download it successfully.

I'm not even going to bother trying to redeem the keys until next week :)

Licurg: EA is evil. EA is the vagina of Lucifer .
Lol, you mean Mrs Lucifer? Yeah, Origin is pretty awful.

Mivas: It has happened to me a couple of times with Steam. I accessed only Mass Effect 3 via Origin, so I don't have enough experience to judge. It's Steam without achiemevents, imo, and it worked fine; except EA servers for multi.
it has achievements its just more cumbersome as the the company that makes it EA

Punished_Snake: I can't download Dead Space 3 from it.
Every time the download reach 75%, it resets to 50%.
What a horrible client.
This is the first time I'm using it, and I can't download a single game.
hehe, welcome to my world. My recent Origin laugh is with buying the origin humble bundle and only being able to redeem the steam copies of the games.

Oh well, it's still not as bad as GFWL.

Yes, only Origin has download issues. Never had that with every other client and website ever, no sir.
EA in a nutshell
This made me chuckle. Thanks!
Actually, so far I've had less problems with the Origin client than I've had with Steam. Steam has more of everything of course, such as the community marketplace and the games in their store have reasonable pricing (https://www.origin.com/fi-fi/store/sku/248838100), but when it comes down to downloading and more importantly, playing games in the library, Origin beats Steam in that area. Say I wanna play Dead Space 3 on Origin? I just press play and the game starts. Say I wanna play Dead Space 3 (assuming if I had it on Steam) on Steam? I press play, wait for some installer to finish (usually some Windows Framework stuff or whatever) for half a minute before I get to play the game. Every time (except with old games and indies). I don't know why it does that.

LOL - testify, brother Velvet!

Bah, like DProject, I've had better overall experiences with Origin. Granted, I have probably 4 times as many games on Steam, so much greater opportunity for problems to occur, but I've had almost no issues with Origin. I especially appreciate the feature where if the Origin client loses an internet connection while you're playing a game, it just silently goes into off-line mode. I've not experienced the same thing with Steam.
The installer thing with steam you can bypass by going to the steamapps folder then search for "redist" then delete those files manually. It has worked on any game I tried it on, now the installer window pops up for half a second sometimes but the game starts immediately instead of waiting for the steam client to realize everything was already up-do-date.

NOTE: It may become corrupted and you might need to validate the files yourself which might take a while, so self-responsibility and all that!
