I don't think they intend to give the singleplayer a try - OpenRA is a multiplayer effort through and through.

That being said, a full open-source implementation of the C&C/Red Alert engine is a good basis for a forked project to address the single-player mode.

Afaik the single-player campaign is being worked on by the OpenRA guys. But just having a skirmish map against bots with good AI is enough for me right now. Game looks fantastic in widescreen resolutions though.

That would be unfortunate. I dislike having mutliplayer only games. But, I do understand how hard it can be to create good AI.

For the original single-player campaigns you can just get <span class="bold">Portable RA</span> - works great on modern OS with high resolutions. Includes the complete game, and both expansions have extra video briefings and music (that were only released on PS1).
