I have Core 2 Duo 2ghz, overclocked to 3ghz with stock voltages and stock cooler, and it is doing okay for me : ).
But yeah, because of that damn GTA4 I will upgrade sometime in march (can not be bothered to play in sub 30fps with ugly graphics and controls on console..).

Overclocking? How do you do that? I have the same processor as you.
Drink less soda, and try, at least every once in a while, working out instead of playing games (probably won't happen). Then again, since I'm not overweight, I'm not highly motivated.

Overclocking is mostly dependent on your motherboard and is usually done through the BIOS. If you know what model of motherboard you have, you can probably find an exact tutorial on google
This link has some basic info on the process
Edit: Ahh just saw the other thread, ignore this post then.

My gamer resolution is to go back and beat the dowen or so games over the years that I got halfway through and never beat them. I don't know what it is, but I have a real problem with this...

The first step towards getting help is admitting you have a problem. We're all proud of you for taking this most difficult step
Gaming Resolutions... Well, continue to game.
Retro kick: Check, New PC ordered: Check, set the default difficulty to Hard: Check.
I guess the only thing left to do is learn to solder to fix a replacement capacitor on my broken "Game Gear"...
