How kid-themed is this? I am tempted by the pedigree, and the art looks nice, but if it is seriously like "how many beans does bobby have in his hand?" then I have no interest.

Hello - no its not like that. Goal of this game is pure exploration. There are maybe two spots like that (one in the bookshelf with ABC book and one comment of one creature about math - and thats all I think). Most of this game is about having fun :)
