Ah, videogame controversy, I think I'll get this one on general principal.

Seriously, I like games that are hard and all, but Iron Storm took it to a new level of annoying for me (as this Crysis... how the hell did those guys see me three klicks away?). Others may like it, so go ahead, enjoy it. This is just my experience from playing it.
And I'm sticking by it.

Sounds like the snipers in Allied Assault. I forgot what the level was actually called, but they ALWAYS knew where you were. Still, I got the bastards in the end.
I've actually been hoping that GOG would pick this game up, it always piqued my interest, but I failed to get it on launch.
Once I get some money, definitely adding this one to my collection!
Here are some video's of the game.

It looks like a decent fps and it does have a lot of routes. The story is interesting too.
Wow. It's funny how perspectives differ on these games. I'm an FPS wimp. I never got past the first encounter in Far Cry because the AI just pwned me. Same with Ghost Recon (got father in that one, but still ended up surrendering to the AI) and Operation: Flashpoint.
But Iron Storm: piece of cake. I bought it when it first came out and loved it. I even had a small fansite up for awhile. I won't say I never had to reload, because I did, but I just really, really liked the game and wanted to see what came next, so I soldiered my way through it. In fact, thinking about it makes me want to go back and play it again. I just loved the premise.
That's probably the secret: if you care about the game, you'll do what it takes to succeed. If you don't, you'll just go, "Meh," and move on.
CAVEAT: the level where you have to down the helicopter gunships with the rocket launcher from inside the trenches: one of the hardest you'll ever face. I had forgotten about that one until just now, but yeah, hone your twitch skills. Luckily, it comes halfway through the game and not at the beginning and, as the cliche goes, when you do beat it you'll feel a total sense of satisfaction that you just did something f'ing-A hard.
Don't bother guys, this game is deplorably bad.
looking at a couple of those youtube videos the game has some real bad bugs in it especially with people not moving.
