Does anyone know of a regular not-trying-to-sell-you-some-BS-driver-update-spyware-crap site?? I'm trying to download some Conwise Technology Bluetooth drivers so that my dad can use his Bluetooth headset with Skype since Skype won't recognise the generic Windows/MS drivers as an audio device. I am at wit's end here. Thanks.

I didn't do enough research to see if Conwise was a rebranded Broadcom chipset but this might help you or someone else with a similar problem. These generic Anycom drivers seemed to have fixed most of my problems in Windows 7.

I hope this helps.

I used to use driverguide.com, it was ad packed & made you sign up (free) but had the content I needed
Is Driver Detective legitimate?? Because I tried to download it on my dad's comp and avast! popped up with a Trojan horse warning. I keep his avast! up to date and all that. I moved the Driver Detective file over to the virus chest.
Again, is Driver Detective a legitimate program or is it malware/spyware/brower hijacker ware???

It is legitimate. No idea where you've gotten it from or what problem avast! has with it. Gotten it from download.cnet.com and didn't run into any problems with it. AVG as well as spybot don't see anything suspicious about it.
To my knowledge, it's also the only product available to scan and update drivers (apart from the build-in windows update that is). Still, you might want to check on the reviews from the above link.
You could try DriverMax, it's free to use, and hasn't installed any malware that I've found over the past year.

You actually didn't have to sign up, the username "drivers" and the password "all" worked for me for YEARS.
I don't know if it still works, as I haven't had a need for the site in a while, but it may...

I'll second this, DriverGuide has solved numerous problems with hardware in the past I've encountered at work. The actual download to the file can be a bit hidden amongst the (download Now! *(small print for something else)) ads, but it has a fair amount of stuff.
driverguide.com
Always has what I need.
