Mind games, played by women. Trillions at the least :-)
Final Fantasy could be up there if you start adding all the spin-off stuff, tactics, Chocobo racing.
So... do we have a definitive answer?
To get a definite answer you need a definite question. Define "games to a series."

I'm glad I googled this correctly and found what I wanted:

if there is a series that goes by the name chuck berrys: then it makes another game called "dooble monkeys" and it simply has 1 charecter from the series and nothing else, then its in the same series.

Check out this thread on Gamespot where the same question was asked. Some excerpts:

"...there are 46 Tetris games in total..."
"Final Fantasy, for instance, may have up to 65 games with spin-offs; not including re-makes and comilations..."
"Mega Manhas over 50 games in its meta-verse..."
"theMegami Tensei has a little over 40..."
"the Tales series has around 30..."
"Castlevania is in the mid-30s..."
"...the Mario games...came out to be about 126...didn't count any re-releases or ports..."
The ones I can think of:

-Mario (probably most games to a series out of all mentioned...wiki says over 200 games).
-Mega Man
-Zelda
-Pokemon
-Castlevania
-Madden
-Guilty Gear (with XX Λ Core Plus R being the newest in arcades)
-Street Fighter
-Sonic
PC-wise, I think its The Sims.

The Sims 3 has 16 parts right now, with another one set for release in January.
