I just hit the free software jackpot! I remember seeing mention of some new microsoft thing called dreamspark (all IT students should google it or just put the www at the start and the com on the end) a few years ago that was some student support thing. Naturally it was america only and so I stopped loooking at that point since there wasn't much in the way of content.
Damn but that's changed! I was looking to see if there was a student price for server 2003 since I'll need a copy for doing my masters, there is, its $0! MS are giving away full versions of some top shelf enterprise grade software to help out students.
Now I'm not naive, if cynicism generated electricity I could power a reasonably large nation. I know this is an investment in the future sales of the company since it's going to train students in THEIR software and engender a predisposition for the future purchase of MS software since people stick with what they're familiar with but damn this has earned them major respect in my eyes.
Also it's going to be murder on my download limits!
