ok, so the max payne movie came out, but when are we gonna have the max payne games over here?
its not that easy to find everywhere, and im amazed that its not amongst the most wanted list.
to me this is one of the best game/series ever out there.
so, is there anything specific in the way?
cause with a movie coming out i'd thought that would have been the appropriate moment to ride in the train of profit over the franchise... im i wrong?
any responses are well appreciated, are there any other max payne supporters out there?
cheers. ^^
Max Payne 2 is one of my top ten games of all time.
Both of them are available on Steam, by the way. Very cheaply too: $10 each; $15 for the two of them. The only way GoG could undercut this with their pricing scheme was if they made them both $6 games - and getting Max Payne 2 for $6 would be criminal. I couldn't live with myself.
However - on Steam they're not available worldwide, so that's one area where GoG could have an advantage. But, more likely, the publisher's crappy attitude towards international customers would just get in the way of GoG making a deal with them in the first place.

i think even if it was 10 bucks, just the fact that its available through gog would make make me gladly buy it again, unlike steam. :)
i never got max 2, only max 1. but im afraid i may have lost the cd last time we moved and i would really like to play it again. ^^
and yes, i dont like steam. :D
Don't get me wrong, I do like the first game, but I really can't overemphasise just how amazing the second is. The speed at which they made it makes it even crazier how much they managed to surpass the original - in every way. This is one of those things that it's hard to shut me up about once I start, so I'll try not to start. :)
But basically: MP1 is great, MP2 is a masterpiece. Make sure to play it when you get the chance, from GoG or elsewhere.
Hmm I must be the only one that thinks the first was the best. I loved the noir setting and dialogue, but the second just felt cheesy with ridiculous and over the top metaphors.
A tenner is a bargain in any case, but I think ill go and vote for it on the wishlist anyway. Should be up there on most voted instead of... ugh... Outcast.
Eh, I liked the first one more as well.
Except for those God-forsake nightmare scenes, of course.

I can still find xbox versions of both games at a local store, although, I did just recently find the xbox version of silent hill 2 there, so I think my store specializes in rarities..

You are not alone.
I loved the first game and was ecstatic when the second came out, but I never got hooked on it like I had on the first one. So I have actually never bothered to play through Max Payne 2.
Nah, you're not the only one to say that, but I still don't understand it. Max Payne 1 was done very ironically (almost as black comedy), but Max Payne 2 was completely genuine. That made a big difference to me.
Which is actually kind of odd, because usually I'd be more fond of the ironic approach. But in this case it's the other way around.
There's another reason for having Max Payne 1 on GoG: It's uncompatible with Vista.

Max Payne 1 works fine for me. All you need is a little patch to fix the audio problems and that's it.

Steam versions are Vista compatible. But than again, you guys don't like Steam, right?
Ah, so nice to have original CD's sitting on my gaming shelf behind me *smug*
I must be the only person on the planet that enjoyed the 'nightmare' levels in MP1, it's one of the few games I've played where listening to the audio is the secret to beating it.
The level design in MP2 is what I found to be really enjoyable and I found the sniping level in the construction yard to be fun.
Above all, the plot and script were outstanding in both games, the comic book cut-scenes just drew me into the world of Mr. Payne and blasting bad guys in slow motion was also a plus (to say the least).
I agree that it's not everyone's cup of tea but they are games that everyone should try playing at least once, just in case they find a game they might enjoy.

It's not only the audio problem. For me (and a lot of people) the game just crashes. It's unplayable.
