Greetings.

For all you Wargamers here I just noticed that Matrix Games have a Holiday Sale.
Since Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge is no longer grossly overpriced, only overpriced I finally decided to buy it. I love that game engine. :)
Thanks. I'm interested in picking up some AGEOD games and Distant Worlds. Any idea if the retail versions have DRM like online activation?

Think I'll send them an email too just to be sure.

Sorry don't know about the DRM so if you want to make sure wait for an answer from them.
Unfortunately I haven't found any similar games to some of the Matrix Games so this is one sad example of me buying the games even if they have crappy DRM although I hate DRM.

Edit: So in this case DRM isn't an issue for me.

Their DRM is the type where you enter a serial key on install (which doesn't go online) and that's it.

Cool. That was my main concern. Thanks :)
Do you guys have any recommendations from Slitherine Games? From screenshots and reviews, Field of Glory looks good; anyone played it?

The Close Combat games they sell are really top notch, expensive as fuck though. They are the same games as the old CC, but I guess have new maps and other stuff, also you can put them to high resolutions and stuff
Their prices are high as duck even after discounts.

I've been curious about the Close Combat games there since I saw them. But it's like you said they're WAY too expensive. I only buy games there that I know I'll play many hours.

Matrixgames discounts are 33-35% only. You can often find AGEOD games cheaper during Gamersgate sales (50-75%) like I did. Btw. they're all lots of fun!

And as for recommendations.. Field of glory you mentioned is supposedly great for tabletop enthusiasts but I haven't played it myself. I can recommend AGEOD games but they're difficult to get into.

So what's your favourite kind of strategy? What's your favourite era?
