Hi, Just thought I'd share my experience in case it helps anyone.
I was really happy about the prospect of playing a few old DOS games on my Linux desktop thanks to DOSBox and GoG. The trouble is that although the old games are DOS the GoG installer needs Windows. It then installs a pre-configured version of DOSBox and the game.
So I tried wine, which installed the GoG SimCity 2000 ok. But then to play the game I'm running DOSBox under Wine on Linux and the results weren't great.
I emailed support and they were very helpful, they said I could simply copy the Wine installed SimCity 2000 folder somewhere else and use DOSBox to run it. It works great!
Thanks GoG, I'm hoping the same thing will work for Settlers 2...
