Does anyone here on GOG have Left 4 Dead 2 yet and if so are you getting crashing issues? My machine is more than capable of running it but after a couple of minutes it just crashes to the desktop without warning. No stuttering, no error messages, just a quick and clean return to the desktop.
I've managed to make it last longer (so that I can get through a campaign most of the time) by adding -lv to the launch options (low violence mode) but this means that I get no locational damage, disappearing bodies, very little blood splatter, and no fire on zombies, which is really ruining the feel of the game.
I've already raised a support ticket to Steam Support but have heard nothing, and I have heard that there are many others with crashing issues.
Anyone get any advice? Is it a big enough issue for enough people that it will likely be fixed?

What OS are you running and what are your hardware specs? People need to learn to give these out beforehand when they are asking for help in regards to software crashes.

Might be what you need.

I have the same problem with you but for me game is freezing and I need to restart my computer by pressing power button. It happens actually when boomers and spitter comes. I think their biles are problematic. Mine system is Intel C2Q 2.66 GHz, 6 GB RAM and nVidia 9800 GTX on Windows 7.

I knew the bile was dangerous in real life, but nobody listened...

Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Yeah, I've seen that forum. And a lot of others actually. Looks like a very common problem. The -lv launch option seems to work okay (not perfect though as I've had one crash with it) but I don't want to have to use -lv as it ruins the atmosphere of the game, what with removing gore, dead bodies, flaming zombies, etc.
Anyway, a friend on Steam pointed me at this:

Looks like at least it is accepted as an issue by Valve and hopefully will be fixed soon. *fingers crossed*

I have l4d2 and I don't have crashes, please add me to your steam friends
my name is weclock.
Just to let you all know, there has been a patch released today (some time within the last 4 hours) as it downloaded when I tried to start the game.
The patch doesn't state in the update details about fixing the crashes that have been experienced but I have since played a full campaign and played a survival map with the full gore on (-lv switch removed from my launch options) and have had no crash.
After the patch downloaded I did re-verify my files and it flagged up one to re-download, but I don't know whether the file 'corruption' is part of the crashing issue or not. A lot of people have said that on verifying their files they get one or two corrupt files flagged up and yet no matter how many times it downloads it, on re-verifying it is still corrupt.
So, the crashing issue might now be fixed. Can anyone else confirm they have had the same experience since the update?

I've read that not everyone has had their crashing issues fixed by the update, and in fact, some who were fine before the update are now crashing after the intro video since the update was released.
Hopefully Valve are still working on getting these issues fixed.
