I just tried the demo.... first level, got down from the building, ran around the streets for a bit, then couldn't find anywhere to go. I'm sure I'm missing something completely obvious but after I got to the bit about 'ooo watch out don't set off car alarms' i couldn't find any new pathways to go down.

Yeah, i missed that aswell, you have to go down the to the subway by the cars. Easily missed. :)

Really? I thought I checked the subway route and saw it blocked... guess I'll look more carefully

Yup, that's the end of the first level. You need to get into the safe room and close the door.
Check for marking on the walls, there should be spraypainted arows that lead you to it.

Make sure to shoot the car and trigger the alarm as you are about to go down into the subway. Just throw the pipe bomb after and it's not a threat really. You can create a nice bottleneck down there to deal with any that don't blow up.

I've been playing this since the demo went public and I am totally addicted. This is the first time I've seriously used Steam, and the first game I've pre-ordered!
The experience is (of course) highly dependent on who you're teamed up with. Luckily, most of the 'random' folks I've met seem sensible and intelligent. I think people learn fast and idiots are swiftly dealt with by the AI >:)
After a few runs through on 'Advanced,' I tried 'Expert' for the first time last night. It was brutal, but brilliant. Even dying in L4D is fun, especially when it happens in an epic way, people getting thrown around and crushed by a tank, then the last survivor vomited on by a boomer and torn to pieces by the horde.
It's scary how addictive these two levels are. Imagine 18 more! :)

At first I wasn't interested, but I tried the demo and i'm definatly getting it.
For now though, it's Zombie Panic Source for me!

Alright, having played the demo, I can say that this has great potential...but I'm apprehensive to it maybe being too short.

I was apprehensive at first, but I've replayed the demo so much, and all we're getting right now is 1.5 maps (i.e. The second one is chopped in half). Also, the maps are meant to get longer and tougher as each of the four campaigns progresses. With 20 maps total and a hell of a lot of replay value, I'm more worried that I won't have time for anything else ;)

Do what I did. Pre-order the retail version from Amazon. It's cheaper, anyway.

Yeah I played 60 hours of the L4D demo, with 2 friends that also played about as much - it's got a lot of replay value and it's really fun. The AI director adds more to the gameplay than those pre-generated levels Hellgate London had. I never play a normal game as much as this demo... well not everyday like that. I'm definitely making a lot of Tokyo(where I'm from)/Chicago(where I am now) maps and a character based on me if they have support for player models, which they probably will.

I'm beginning to think that you're kinda insane :D

You could say games is my profession, so playing them is normal for me. No I don't test games.
