amok: hm, are you sure? I seem to remember being able playing it on a laptop in the breaks sometime ago (no internet then). Is it through Origin?
Origin, yeah. With Origin offline the game won't load saves, says the DLC is unavailable. I googled and it's a known issue, EA say it is a bug but have never fixed it.

Supposedly the Steam version works offline just fine.

That is funny :)

I have it on Origin too, I might download it again and try later.

Let me know, just because I saw others complaining through google doesn't mean it's screwed up for everyone. Maybe there is a fix.

I played Mass Effect 3 offline with the DLC installed and it worked fine.

Ah, I wanted to point out that sometimes I get that notice with ME3 too, but exiting Origin and starting the game again might work. But if it's a bug, then yeah, fuck!
I've only played the demo (a few times, to get the bonus stuff for ME3 :D), but I pretty much liked what I saw!

Yeah, you are right. Just tested and it refuses to load the DLC's.
I found a quick and easy solution to this Origin issue.

I "pirated" the fucking game.

Works fine now!

:D - Don't see anything wrong with it when you already own the game, so good for you! :)

Yes, their fool proof method is truly astounding.
SO... FUCKING... BORING.

I can put 300 hours into Morrowind without even noticing but 20 hours into Amalur I feel like fucking killing myself. Going to abandon this soon unless respecing to a warrior changes my mind.

Behold, the power of necronom... necor... nec...

Whatever.

Anyway, this games is quite awesome! How come people didn't play this?

The universe for this game seems very bland...

They did. It was quite popular in fact. Unfortunately, they needed to sell even more copies than the massive amount sold, putting the final nail in 38 studio's coffin. A shame, really. They had a lot of potential.

I hated how you couldn't play dlc offline, however, so I never finished the game. I enjoyed it for the most part, but it did start to feel repetitive after a while. I tried to do every side quest, and there was a lot of them. I'll probably pick it back up sometime down the road.

I played the demo and I admit that the game is pretty fun. But I was strapped on gaming cash and there's always a much more interesting games released that stole my attention.

Maybe if it goes for 5 bucks on GOG or Steam....

Because it applies an MMO style of game design to a single player game. People don't actually think that a gazillion quests involving killing X amount of monster Y for NPC Z is something fun, they just enjoy doing it with friends, and Amalur offers the former, but not the latter.
