How do you all feel about GOG adding a bunch of kids games. The old dos based games like Museum Madness, Fatty Bear, Putt Putt etc. My kids loved those games and played them to death. Opinions ???

Opinion: Some kids' games are pretty fun, though I have no idea about those.
Suggestion one: Use the wishlist to vote for games.
Suggestion two: Try The Manhole, a kid themed myst-like game, or Creatures Village, where you take care of small cute furry things with big heads (a seemingly simpler and more kid friendly version of Creatures: The Albian Years or Creatures Exodus)
Oh, yeah, I don't own either of those games, but from what I've heard they should be quite fit for kids.

I would like to see more kids games available, I bought The Manhole and Beyond Good and Evil for my nieces and installed them only on their systems.
Not worrying about installing DRM on their system and getting the games at a reasonable price are also incentives. I have bought many games for them over the years and been disappointed in the games and especially the high prices of kids games.
The only games they play, out of dozens, are the two I purchased from GOG.
I've found that kids games here are usually expensive and don't have that good compatibility*. They also don't have that large a presence on digital distribution.
I would think be an audience out there for the kids genres. Either it's too small, or yet to be fully capitalised on. Certainly an area I'd be interested in seeing how well it could do on a DD service.
*compatibility on a lot of kids stuff is rubbish, experience I've had usually results in a lot of frustration (And I'm a nutter that enjoys tweaking things to optimal), especially considering what you pay for some of them.

Yeah, I've suffered from this, too. I have this Rugrats game I played when I was a kid, which was pretty awesome, because it was a full-on adventure game that did 3D transitions between locations, more work than I've ever seen poured into any other kid's game. I loved that goddamn game. So when I tried to run it on modern software, no matter what I tried, no dice. That kind of thing makes me so angry.

Thanks for the feed back so far. I do have the Manhole Collection on Disk and have not tried loading it up. I am tempted to just get it from GOG and avoid all the hassles. I would
really like to get Museum Madness up and running for my yongest as it was in my opinion a masterpiece for kids. Premise: You are stuck on a Museum and the exibits have been tampered with. You need to fix them to get out. Teaches alot of history etc. I think with so
much out there to work on this area of games is neglected (unexploited).
Math Blaster, Reader Rabbit, Number Munchers..
I'd happily attack the old Apogee kids games (Math Rescure, Word Rescue) that we used to play A LOT on the classroom 386 computer back in primary school. Yes, we had our own computer right in the classroom thanks to a very enthusiastic teacher.
fyi numbermunchers.org has a web version of the game
In my humble opinion, The Incredible Machine is the best kids game PERIOD.
I grew up with that game and have been playing it since very young, and it made me learn and understand concepts of gravity way before anyone else in my age group, along with logics and other assorted common sense things ( which is far from common at such a young age. ). Its exessively fun and very educational.

I played Putt Putt, Fatty Bear, etc..
Great games.
I'd support them going on, but whether it would be viable, in terms of profit, fr GoG is another question

Can people of an older age still pick it up and play it?

The Incredible Machine can be played by anyone and trains, in my opinion, logical thinking and basic concepts of physics.
The game works like this, there is several puzzle challenges, for example 6 floating baseballs and 6 "baskets" are preset - the goal then is to get all 6 baseballs to get into those baskets.
You get a selection of items to achieve this. In this example, you might put see-saws below the baseballs and then use a bowling-ball to catapult the baseball into said baskets.
It basically is a virtual rube-goldberg maker.. and who doesn't love a good rube goldberg ? ;)

Fatty Bear is amazing and I'd love to play it again. :D (Vote for it!)
As stated, some games are still great these days. As long as at least some of us would still enjoy playing those games from our childhood, I see them as a valueable and unique addition.
If they're good games only enjoyable to kids now, then definitely not.
