Well, I'm writing a research paper in word that's due tomorrow, and for some reason my keyboard is acting up. It doesn't seem to react the same way here, but I have to retrace my steps often and hammer on the key until something pops up. As anyone who has to stay up late to write something, this is driving me bonkers. Is there anyone aware with this problem pertaining to Word 2007?

Lets start with the basics first, how long have you had the file open? How long is the file in length?
I notice when I'm working on large files for a considerable amount of time that Word (any flavor) will start to get bogged down -- especially if you have display spelling/grammar errors in your document turned on (as it appears to check them all every time you do something.
Same if you have any tables or figures included in the file.
So to start with, have you tried saving your work and shutting down Word then restarting it? May as well try a fresh boot of your PC too just in case.
I'd say it's keyboard gnomes. Pesky little buggers.

I rebooted and it all works now. Thanks!

No worries, I deal with that a lot when working in the office as our PCs are woefully old and can't handle the files I tend to work on -- it's fun to see a PC overheat due to a word document =/.
Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on?
I agree with Bansama, when I am writing up lab reports (like right now) and have a ton of images, when the page count starts getting to the 20s or 30s scrolling through the appendix becomes a huge pain in the ass. Stupid Schlieren images and graphs.

Thats why its a good plan to build chapters of a huge document seperately

Except when the client specifically states not to. >_< Yeah, dealing with 200 page translations in one file is really fun! I always have to do that at home as once the document reaches 50 pages, the PCs at work just crash.
Oh you don't have to DELIVER it like that, just makes it easier to work on

Yeah, but you still need to deal with the length of the file when trying to merge it together again (which in my case, is really annoying to do because of the specific formatting style the client uses). Far easier to stick with one complete file.
Of course that's a problem that a lot of people shouldn't have =)
