Thanks for this topic. It reminded me of why I haven't used IRC since 1997.

Oldski: I got banned this morning for saying WOLOLO after reading this thread and trying to see if what was described would happen. It did and I'm still uncertain what I want to do about it. I must admit I'm disappointed though.

Fenixp: Huh? You're not banned... You weren't even on the ban list last time I checked in the morning (My definition of morning is a bit off though :D )
Anyway, I have a feeling most of you people here are missing the point. I would un-ban Skrylar in, what, 10 minutes? If he didn't return under another nick. That's what started all this fuss and was a bit mis-interpreted, obviously... I do that because kicking people is rendered useless by auto-rejoin.
EDIT: Yep, you were never banned. Just kicked, free to rejoin any time

hey n00b WOLOLO.....
use your head next time, I don't se personaly ANY reason to ban someone for anythink like this. Ban should be last solution, not first.
Warriors of freedom, join in defence of skylar
moonfear ruined it.
No. No. No. No.
BAD moderator.
I wanted to join the IRC chat to see what you guy talk about, but I see now it would only be a waste of my time.
I know Skrylar from Bay12 and can vouch that he's a decent enough fellow that the ban was not warranting. Banning someone over saying one word vs. actual trolling....
I also know that you have alienated Skrylar, so if your point was to get him to not come back, you succeeded.
You're moderators, show some patience.
I'm sorry, but no matter what anyone says about this WOLOLO thing, the fact that Skrylar brought this here was wholly inappropriate, regardless of what the IRC mods did. Like I said before, that alone is enough for me to think that his ban was completely justified and warranted, as it shows what kind of character he brings to IRC.
If you have a problem with something someone has done, you talk to that person, you don't run out in the street and announce all the horrific slights you feel that person has committed against you and then expect that to somehow magically fix everything. If Skrylar was having trouble contacting the mods, he could have posted here and requested some kind of contact, but he didn't have to "take it to the people" so unnecessarily. Since he seems like a smart enough guy to realize that would never get him un-banned, his only reason for doing it must have been to try to shame the IRC mods and/or sully their reputations. We have a word for people who do things like that: TROLL.
If Skrylar has no problems with trolling here, I fully expect he has no problem doing it in IRC and IRC will be better off without him there.

Solve what? the IRC is unofficial. That's like if I were to make a fan club about microsoft and not let bill gates join. what's bill gates gonna do? nothin'

Nope, not really. He contactet all ops but me. And since it was my ban and they weren't there atm (I believe), they couldn't really do anything about it.

yougiedeggs: Banning someone over saying one word vs. actual trolling....

Yeah, the initial ban was silly, but like it was previously said, he was trying to circumvent a ban instead of just communicating with people about it.
its your fight, not mine, at least I see why I stay away of IRC most of times, I see enought idiots in work....

Skrylar: Edit: Posting worthless comments like "ur just so whiny" is pointless and a blight on the forums. If you hate the thread that much, vote it down instead of wasting database space with a comment of no substance.

Yes, that 40 MB harddrive that they're using for the site, database, etc.. is nearing capacity. Be careful people!
