Well, after thing long and hard (not really) about the three games I happen to have duplicate copies of, I have decided to just create a thread and use it to introduce myself. This forum moves way too fast, after all, and I just can't keep up; so I'd like to at least sound familiar to people whenever I do post. I have some inflated ego, after all.
Because I don't want to be too evil, I'll say the games are Divne Divinity, Messiah and Realms of Arkania 3. Because I don't want to be too nice, either, you'll have to read a bunch of egomaniacal crap to know how to get them.
So, introduction time. I go by Piña, which is a nickname I've had since I was around 6, and stuck. While the nickname comes from my real name and has nothing to do with actual pineapples, it did spark some bizarre fellowship for that marvelous fruit; which is why I consistenly use it for an avatar. Oh, and there's the matter of my army of cloned pineapples taking positions all over the world as we speak, but that's another story and shall be told another time.
I'm a software developer and I work remotely for the most part, usually from home. However, provided that I have no scheduled meetings and I my workload is not too heavy, I take my backpack and hop around as much as I can. This has ended with me working (and I do mean actually working) on the strangest places: from airports and buses to the office of a friend in London, a lakeside in northern Thailand and even a Korean amusement park. It's pretty fun.
I'm Basque, but I've been living and working abroad for about 4 years now (already?), first in Belgium and currently in Ireland. Chances are good my next destination will be Slovakia, but I have yet to agree on that with my boss. Personally, I'd much rather give up my rented house and backpack for a year or two around the world. And I think I can pull it off, but we'll see.
I'm a big fan of stories, and as such I love reading. However, paper is really heavy for traveling, and while I am planning to buy an e-book reader one of these days; I just can't carry the books I would like to read. So for the time being, I kind of gave up on it. Similarly, I have a big collection of physical games; but it's highly impractical to bring them with me even from my old room in my parent's house to my house abroad. Which slightly sucks, as you can imagine.
For years, my solution involved pirating. I have a series of hard disks where I keep pirate copies of all my stuff, and I would download pirate copies of games I physically owned just so I could play them outside my parent's house. Last Christmas, when I bought Warhammer 40k: DoW2 retail I was forced to start using steam; and this opened me to the wonderful world of online distrubution. Because it's exactly what I need.
So, for this past year I've spent a crapload of money re-buying my game catalog to have a legal online copy, following every single promo around. Last April I discovered GOG, and it's so perfectly adapted to my needs that I'm re-re-buying stuff I own physically and on steam so I can switch the pirate version on my hard disks for the GOG one. And it looks beautiful.
And now we finally start getting on topic of the giveaway. I've been buying GOG games for all these months, and my wishlist has reduced to about 10 titles by now. Assuming that during the Christmas sale most games will be cheaper, I would like to finally empty my wishlist in one fell swoop. And I also want to make sure I have replaced all the possible series. But I'm too lazy to go through my list and make sure I got them all.
So here's what I'll do. Instead of I'm posting a link to the inventory of my hard disks, which I usually try to keep up to date. In there, you can see which ones I already own a GOG version of. My wishlist is currently (counts) exactly 10 items. Whoever can find a game on my inventory list that I don't already own on GOG and is NOT on my wishlist gets to choose one of the three games I have to offer.
This should flush out any unpopular games I might have overlooked and I'll get them during this sale. Also, I don't think I was so careless to have skipped more than a couple, so it works out with the amount of duplicate games I have.
Just one more thing, only one game per person. And if you choose a game I already have on the wishlist... well, bad luck. In case no new games show up, I'll figure something else out for the giveaway.
Thanks for reading!
