This is more a suggestion, How about finding if you can get the Imperium Galactica games on here? I have an original copy sat beside me, but it refuses to even install, and it's getting annoying... I loved that game dearly, and don't want to go hunting for parts to make a retro machine just to play it.

There is a wish-list to add your vote for the games, but man I agree with you that these would be great games to get on GOG.
If they do it would be really nice to have the UK version of the manual as it was in color. I had both the US and UK version of the game, and I so wished I had kept the manual it was fun to read.

Does it complain about needing a VESA video card? I think you can get a emulator or wrapper that can get around that
Imperium Galactica runs fine for me under DOSBox, have you tried that? I don't know what the English version feels like, I only played the original Hungarian one, but the ridiculously poor acting in FMVs somehow made this game complete for me. I love it!

Well, I have DOSbox running, it's running the game... mostly, but there's no sound, and it's just crashed when I tried to go to Achilles' surface... any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure I was able to run the game in DOSBox without any problems, it was a while ago though. On DOSBox's compatibility page IG is listed as "runnable", people are complaining about crashes, no sound, just like you said. It did have "supported" status on version 0.63. Your best bet would be to try an old DOSBox version, see if it works there. You should also patch the game, the latest version available is 1.3, just google and download it.
I might try installing it on the weekend to see if there are any problems here, I'll keep you posted. I won't promise anything though as I have a noughty one-year-old running around me all the time. :)

DarthJDG:

I got it working, full sound and no crashes.
I just had to faff about with running the install from the disc, -then- copy the contents of the disc to the installed folder, -then- run install through DOSbox to configure sound.
work's fine now. :3
EDIT: Install from the installed folder, not the disc, that keeps crashing and burning.
I used the command line:
mount C C:\IMPERIUM
C:
INSTALL.EXE
Run autoconfigure sound from there, that'll give sound, and it seems copying everything to the hard drive clears up crash issues using DOSbox... don't take my word for that though.

Good stuff that it's still working then, CD DOS games with installers can be a real pain. Are you using the latest DOSBox 0.73?

Yeah, I looked it up because on steam, they have the old XCom games, and they come packaged with DOSbox all automated and ready to go.
I took the latest one and it's running fine. Of course there's a little flakiness with the sound, but that's to be expected with the age of my disc.
