okay, your thumbs are broken, now what?
what can you still do with broken thumbs?
One thing that dawned on me, was that you can still use a computer.. as mostly it's your other fingers that need to be used.
Console games, rather much not so.
it might be difficult to hold a beer and etc.. but I think if you had a straw, that'd work out pretty well.

You'd have to stick to bottled beer - that's easy enough to drink without the use of a thumb.
You could play console games if you used an arcade stick

that's certainly true, some games however require use of both analogue sticks (i.e. geometry wars) and some games certainly don't feel right when using a controller other than the controller of the console the game shipped on, i.e. Tetris Attack feels strange on anything other than a SNES pad or big fat ugly GBA.
Having had a broken wrist, that was annoying enough if I wanted to game, but PC games are usually okay, if they're largely mouse based.
It made doing anything a pain in the arse though, but thumbs would be worse. At least I had one hand working okay.
I can play videogame with this.

That's for PC's, you can still use a mouse + keyboard without thumbs.

Well, I'd probably get a Wii... would have to throw out my projector (because, well, it's simply unbearable to play on a big screen), but what the hell.
I've realised by this question I tend to stick my thumb out away from things I am holding. The only thing that is going to be difficult is where you need a good grip, like opening out a soft-drink bottle. Or using a biometric thumb print scanner.

Couldn't effectively use my mouse with no thumbs, it's got shoulder buttons and I often hit the space bar with my thumb.
Xbox would be a bitch, it's true.
I saw this 20/20 piece (totally for John Stossel's 'stache) where this girl was born with no arms, so she did everything --computer work, cooking ramen, etc.-- with her TOES. I guess losing your thumbs wouldn't be that bad.

I do spacebar with my thumb all the time, I'm just saying it could easily be worked around.(i.e. using your palm or just reaching to it)
If I lost my thumbs....hmm...I guess I couldn't play consoles. The horror *yawn*.

There's quite a few fantastic games that are on consoles that aren't on PC, and vice versa, your fanboyism is ridiculous. I sincerely do love Tetris Attack, and Geometry Wars 2.
Castle Crashers is another great one, as well as Poker Smash.
Fantastic games, and unfortunately they require a thumb.
