Weclock: Personally, whenever I put something serious and something that should not be maken fun of, online, I expect the worst. Anybody who doesn't expect the worst shouldn't be posting online. I expect to be teased, made fun of, etc. So when/if it happens, I don't get all heart broken over it.

I agree with you.
And i really hate the implications of what i'm about to say, but it's the truth.
No one is safe from something like this after posting personnal stuff on the web.
Forget if the people on the pics look like this or like that. Anyone of us can be ripped to shreads on the web for a picture a vid or even a statement. Yes, it's a shitty world but we have to make due with it untill we have a new one to f*** up. Untill then people should learn to protect themselves and their own feelings before starting to upload personnal stuff.
Should people make fun of this couple ? No.
Is that a realistic expectation ? Please...
While in a perfect place this couple should be able to post their pics online without a care in the world, we don't live in a perfect place.
Their friends should have found a nice way to advise them against posting the pics on a public network, especially when is just so damn easy to grab them and completely take them out of context.
I'm sorry for them (not for who or how they are, but for this episode), and I'm sorry that by now they probably learned the hard way that private stuff should remain private unless they are ready to deal with this kind of thing.
The only thing that could have prevented this is if the pics had remained in the couple's HD and shared with family and friends.
The moment the pics landed on the web it was just a matter of time...
Edit: bad use of double negative. My bad.

I wanted to know if there was a way I could contact this couple, but I don't have the resources to sort through the posts.. oh well, they could probably live without my sympathy.
Sorry to have to correct you, but this is the best thread on the internet.

As soon as I saw the first post, I realised that his signature started with 'OT' which might as well be 'YHBT'. Anyway, if you don't want pictures like that being 'ohexploitable' then don't put them on the interapes where they will go down in Encyclopaedia Dramatica history.

So, don't post your WEDDING PICTURES on your MYSPACE, because people are assholes.
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. It's not wrong for people to be assholes, because well they posted the pictures on the internet.
Better would be: Don't be an asshole and take your pleasure in making a mockery of two people who are quite likely two perfectly decent people.
Yes the woman is overweight. No, she's not very attractive. She has to deal with people being asshats to her in real life all the time (because being fat is still 'okay' to mock someone for). She shouldn't have to put up with thousands of people making her FUCKING WEDDING a laughing stock.
The internet. It is not a license to be an asshole.

Of course its wrong for people to be assholes, but the simple fact is, people are assholes. A whole hell of a lot of 'em are assholes. Anyone with a semblance of a clue should be aware of that and take steps to prevent those assholes from taking advantage of situations like this. All they had to do was post their pictures privately to share with actual family and friends, instead of publicly for the whole world to see and this never would have happened.

Wishbone: Hey, I've laughed at the Star Wars kid too. Who hasn't? But that doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for him, and I certainly would never badmouth him publicly in the way these people are doing. I take it you're of the Poster Y persuasion, then?

I too thought that while the troll job was insulting, but I honestly felt some of the replies were funny
