I hope this has not been discussed before (at least I cannot find it when I searched the forum). Anyway, we sometimes hear the expression that GOG games are cheap like the price of a lunch. For example, in the Total Annihilation: Kingdoms release page here, they said, "Forget about lunch today and spend this spare cash on this game and you won't regret it."

So I am curious. In the US maybe $5.99 or $9.99 is really the price tag of a lunch, but since we GOG members are from so many different countries, how many lunches a GOG game price tag actually is?

For this discussion, let's just stick with $9.99 price tag. Convert that to your local currency, and see how many lunches it is. Also, for this discussion, let's limit it to lunch, not breakfast (which theoretically might be cheaper) nor dinner (which theoretically should be more expensive).

I'd start with mine. If I go for the fast-food variety (McDonald's, KFC, A&W, etc.), I'd say 3 lunches. For a pricey, non fast-food restaurant, maybe just 1 lunch (or 2 at most). For everyday home-cooking variety, maybe 5 to 6 lunches. If I go with normal/regular eatery places maybe 3 to 4 lunches, but if you go slightly extreme (maybe not so extreme here), maybe up to 16 lunches.

So, how about you? :-)

Five lunches for me at McDonald's. One lunch plus a tip at my favorite Chinese buffet. I can buy enough deli meat, cheese, and bread for five or six days of lunches for $10.
Fast food in the US: 1.5 lunches (maybe just one if you want something like a milkshake with your lunch)

Fantastic sandwich made at an upscale store deli: 1.5 lunches (costs the same as fast food and so much better for you)

Lunch out at a food vendor cart: 1.5 lunches

Lunch at a slightly nice restaurant: 1-.5 lunches (you can spend anywhere between 10 and 20 around here even for lunch).
Well, while I worked in Washington, DC, 9.99 could get me two lunches if I went to this hole in the wall restaurant in Chinatown. Anywhere else which I could walk to on my lunch break, 9.99 is about one lunch. Sure, there's McDonalds and Burger King, but they had rat problems so I avoided those.
Depends how healthy you go, you can get a footlong sub at subway for 10 bucks but at my local chippie you can get 4 minimum chip serves for 10 bucks and those minimum serves are enough for 2 people to fill up so in theory 8 lunches
Yeah, the problem is the different price structures of places one could choose to buy their lunch. But sticking with what I'd actually buy if I were buying lunch, it would be pretty close to 1, as I'd likely go for a sub and a drink at Subway. Given that I usually make my own, it's probably somewhere along the lines of 4 or 5 lunches or so.
Considering the stuff I would consider purchasing for lunch.

1 $9.99 GOG could get me:

~2 Breadroll with topping lunches
~1,7 *cheap* kebab lunches
~0,8 lunches at a Chinese restaurant
~0,7 pasta lunches
~0,4 good hamburgers

and probably up to 4 lunches at home, assuming I eat bread.

All estimates are assuming I only drink water.

If you want else to drink, soft drinks at cafés or restaurants would typically clock in at 0,5 GOGs a piece, while beer would be 1 GOG. If you buy it in a grocery store, you could get about 4 soft drinks per GOG, or 3 beers.

Honestly, less than one lunch around here unless I'm making it myself, and using cheap ingredients. It's really hard to find a decent lunch around here for much under $10. I think the cheapest I've found was a $6 middle of the day deal at a Chinese restaurant. But in general it's tough to find anything under $10 at a restaurant.
I just came back from lunch at the office cafeteria, having a mixed vegetable rice (see the photo ), which is not to be confused with [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chopsueywithrice.jpg]Chop Suey rice. It was about 65 cents for the meal and 15 cents for the beverage (cool bottled tea), so rougly about 90 cents. Normally I spend about a dollar and 50 cents for lunch, so today is a bit cheap :-)

Subway... I like it but too bad it is not available locally. The closest from here is in Singapore, I think.

I live in Vancouver so the cost of a lunch is probably around half a million dollars.
Hm 10 dollars is £6.20
Depends on how hungry I am and where I go to eat but it will probably almost get me a lunch (no drink though).
Going the McDonald's route, a $9.99 GOG would be equivalent of almost, but not quite, a medium Big Mac meal. It could also get me a pizza (but nothing to drink) at one of the cheaper take-away places. Or a very nice sandwich in most places that make such (but again, nothing to drink).
That's around $11 Australian. I usually buy a box of shapes (flavoured crackers for all you people who haven't heard of them) for $2.50 ($2 if it's on special). So I could buy about 4-5 lunches with some left over.
Wow. Some of you guys lunch on fastfood? That's a bit of a culture shock.
But I would get around 2 lunches from the university cafeteria (bread, cheese, croquette, soup, coffee). Or 4 would I make them at home.
From the lunch van that comes to our office, I could get more than 1 lunch but less than 2.
