While this is a general curiosity/discussion question, I'm also looking for something specific.
First, simply out of curiosity, how does everyone store their media content? (physical games, movies, CDs, etc)
My second question is much more specific. I just bought the complete series of Psych (31 discs all in one very nice plastic box that fits on a standard DVD shelf). I would like to buy that case (just the case to store other DVDs in). My google skills are not finding anything past a 12 disc blank case. Are all TV series cases custom made for the publishers?
For me, I love the shelving systems of GOG and Steam, but I also store the great majority of my collection in DVD binders. (tossed the cases long ago). A few newer, more complex games have their cases displayed on a physical media shelf.
For movies, I use a Drobo/Plex to serve up digital movies/TV shows to my home. But I also keep all movie cases on display for easy browsing. Since my TV doesn't have a true Plex client (DLNA only) its not easy to sort or browse content).
For Music, I have all CDs ripped, but still keep all the CDs/cases in storage. I don't need to see the cases/inserts for music, I just want them for proof of purchase/re-ripping if needed.
I use Darkadia to keep up with games, and am thinking of doing the same for movies/music.
I'm a browsy person. I need to see it. Right now that means costly real estate, but I'm staring to look into more space saving options. For my games, I use a program called Virtual CD to host all of my game DVDs digitally meaning I don't need the discs (which is why they were moved to binders). For some reason, I don't mind flipping through a binder for games, but the thought of doing that for movies irritates me.
