Just bought three games and they won't launch.
Download, Install and play it...

I've had this problem with some GOGs (I think), as in I run the game shortcut, and the game process spawns (I can see it in my task manager) but it doesn't immediately start, and it will take a few minutes until it randomly just starts

Not sure if it's just something with my computer...

Maybe they prefer dinner?

Okay, that wasn't helpful. Try this: twice double click the shortcut. So quadruple click it.

I get that with a few games, not sure why. I just press again (double-click, but twice in a row) on the .exe and the game launches .

HOW DO YOU POST IN A HELP THREAD? I POST IN ONE AND NO HELP!
It might help to specify which games.
Ultima 7, DeusEX GOY Edition and its sequel

All right, dude, the sarcasm and fun-poking in this thread obviously haven't gotten through to you.

In order to help you, we need lots of information.

You say you bought the games. What else have you done?
Have you downloaded them?
Did you use the GOG downloader?
Did you run the installer?
What happened?

You kinow, information that might give a helpful soul a place to start from.

Cheers!

No wonder that game was so hard! I was playing the Jewish version, but I'm a Gentile! I really should've used the Goy version!

Do you get any error messages when you try to start them, and in that case, what do they say? What OS are you running?

Oh boy, what a joy to play goy. say hay - say hoy. :p

But NtwaiDmela; Did you download them and then started them?

Or did you try to start them fiercely from the webpage where you found the games on?

EDIT: And yes it would help by miles, if you would be so kind to say if you use mac ios, windows or linux?

I think I know what the issue is. You're used to steam and Desura and other websites where you download a client, the game is run off that client, and there's little more than just downloading.

GOG.com does not use a client, and if you've downloaded anything off the site, it's the GOG-Downloader. The purpose of this is to keep downloads from being interrupted in the event of a loss of internet connection, reduces the likelihood of lost data, and supposedly results in a faster overall download.

However, what you download from the website is an instillation package. The entire game is on it, but it has to be unzipped, sorted and copied into your computer. If you're using the installer, then when the bar gets to 100% you click on the magnifying glass beside the game and that will activate the installer. If you don't use the downloader, you have to select to run or to save the install package, which if you simply run, it can fail to work.

After that, simply agree to the Terms and Services notice, click next, choose the folder to download to (Or ignore), click next, the installer will run, and a shortcut will be assigned to the desktop of your computer, along with a folder that will have access to all downloaded titles.

So I guess instillation is the noun for the verb instill, which may mean "to pour in (medicine, for example) drop by drop." No wonder I am so drugged by this website!

Just kidding! :-D
