It's pretty child safe imho... and I'm running a giveaway for it if anyone is interested :D
I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D when i was like 11 years old so game ratings might be a tad overrated anyway

I get why Germany is twitchy about computer games, especially the whole swastika thing but Australia always seems a bit random - they've got a rep for being laid back and not given to mollycoddling after all, I guess they're just beating up on the geeks because we secretly scare them or something!
I play the game and I say the amount of skin shown are pretty tame. Some midriffs and cleavages and that's all :(

I don't remember my age, but I did play Wolfenstein 3D when I was young, as well. It was even more forbidden here (like, extra-extra-forbidden), because of swastikas etc.

The main problem I see, if your parents are "hardcore Christians", is that the game is filled with visuals which they would probably consider pagan and/or outright satanic. Basically, it's the essence of 70s and 80s heavy metal music, re-imagined as a game.
Hell, did you know that the lead singer of slayer is a Devout Catholic.

That's interesting since even Germans are having trouble understanding that. Swastikas in the Indiana Jones movie? Sure, no problem! Swastikas in the Indiana Jones video game which just follows the film? OH MY GOD NO GERMANY IS GONNA BE OVERRUN BY TEENAGE HITLERS!!!

You mean a five word generalisation doesn't perfectly cover 300 million people? Stop. The. Fucking. Press. Nonetheless it's a mentality that permeates deep within American culture from coast to coast. Sex is a bigger taboo than violence.

Out of curiosity, do your parents monitor what you play? Do they sit next to you during the whole thing or something?
Or are you on the honor system and you just choose to abide by their wishes?

If you'd had any conversations with the OP, you'd realize that his parents are extremists and I'd say that only some smaller percentage of American parents are as extreme as the OP's parental units - the rest that consider themselves "religious" only pay lip-service to religion - well maybe it influences who they vote for. But a huge population of the US could care less about their kids exposure to media - and that number grows greater with each passing year.
It's just that when asked, most Americans profess to some kind of organized religion - practice is a whole other ball of wax or kettle of fish. Actually there are many more countries than the US where religion is much more important in actual daily life.
Anyway, talk to draco sometime for a better perspective...
btw, I just came home from Kol Nidre services ;-p
