Does anyone know if Homeworld will be released on GOG.com? It is defiantly a good old game, but it is very difficult to download or (even to buy)legally.

Nobody knows what's going to be released on GOG someday, except perhaps GOG. Go to the wishlist and vote for it.

GOG has to contact the guy/company that owns the rights to the game and make a deal in order to sell Homeworld. Apparently Relic (the orginal developers) have the trademarks right now tough i dunno what that means in terms of getting Homeworld available at GOG. If relic has the rights now maybe it would be easier dealing with them rather than with a publisher.

Sorry i got confused, THQ owns the Homeworld rights since they own Relic. Here is the source:

A quick search of Amazon proves you wrong. Its really easy to buy it, and since it looks like your in the US your in luck. You can get a used copy of this game too. Its before online activations and such. You only need a CD Key. The key is on the jewel case, so as long as you have that your good to go.

More convenient to have a digital download version though. I'd be tempted to buy it even thought I own the original, a little damage to my disc has stuffed up some of the movies on it.
Wasn't it supposed to be on steam at some point?

Yeah, Homeworld was AWESOME! I loved it (and it's still pretty good if you don't mind the plasticy textures), and a lot of younger people ;-) won't have played it. Great game, hope it comes to GOG!

The Star Wars mod was pretty cool but the fighters were always too small, suppose thats what happens when you have to keep them to scale against a star destroyer though

I found the first Homeworld to be harder than a 15 meter thick wall of diamonds, but Homeworld 2 I managed to finish quite quickly comparatively. Homeworld Cataclysm was also fairly easy, though I actually think that it has the best story, though the worst balance for multiplayer.
I bought Homeworld when it came out, but i really sucked at it.
So a friend of mine played it through at my place while i was watching and providing unusefull tips and crisps and cola.
A game I really enjoyed just by watching.
And great music.
