being frugal is an important part of every day life, it is even outlined in the about us section of the GOG.com website.. so please, if you would, explain to me, why you would minus one this post? Certainly the unofficial Steam group would prove that many users here are also steam users.

Just saw it myself and bought a whole bunch of games for 33 Euros. Awesome!

Yeah, I just spent about $38 on stuff there. I got CivIII, the Unreal pack (all Unreal games), Indigo Prophecy (a game I've always wanted to try) and the Darwinia/Multiwinia pack.
It's worth looking around, and even getting a few things at once, now that they have that new Checkout system.

It has some bizarre prices, though, like Portal for 18 euros if you're from Germany.

Actually Steam displayes a drop from €14,99 to €3,74 (75% off) for me.
I would not have been surprised with a price of €18, though.
As someone (not here, somewhere else) mentioned the Multiwnia+Darwinia for £4,49 deal, i looked for it while scrolling through the list.. it's €7,49. So +60%.
Well, at least it's still 75% off for everyone, i could imagine them doing something like 50% off for US, 75% for UK, 25% for the rest of Europe.
I just hope they do not read the GoG forum, otherwise i gave them a very bad idea..
Whereas... i would have to compare the original price, too, perhaps they did that already..as not everything has the same % drop.

Just like Aurion said, I bought it for 3,74 Euros. Are you sure you're from Germany? :D But seriously, try refreshing the page or something. If the normal price is 14,99, it can't be 18 now.

Man, I rather support gog with totally DRM Free games.
There are some nice games, but who knows if it is Steam only DRM or Publisher plus Steam DRM?
This is the same as Strategy First's 50% off sale that I would love to have some of their games but they are DRM controlled.
I guess I will play what I own through gog and wait to see what happens here.

Yep, its a nice promo on Steam's part, but in case of new games I prefer the physical retail version anyway, so I will pass on it.Plus I have to keep my money for this site..gog deserves the support the most of all the companies on the market right now.

This looks like a transparent attempt on Valve's part to gain back a bit of the huge amount of goodwill they lost over the $1=€1 thing.

God, did that piss me off. But hey, their strategy worked - my goodwill is (kinda) back ;)

Well..they cut prices for US customers, who paid "normal" prices anyways, and for UK, who got it for way less money, anways, too.
So whats the point of giving them the goodwill back if they still scam people/customers who (have to) use €? Nothing has changed, except the actual numbers.
Wanting € 7000 instead of € 5000 or € 7 instead of € 5 is basically the same.
This aside, i didn't see anything i actually would want. Most of the more interesting things are still around € 20+, so there is still room for them to get them cheaper somewhere else or just in a year or so. And i do not buy something i do not really want just because it's only € 2 or so..
Also Steam is sometimes horrendous overpriced, and other shops cut their prices, too. Basically, it's a moot move.
I know i like to rant much about them, but it's not my fault th ymake it so easy ;)

Some of the cheap lesser known games and indie sub $5 games are quite good. The developer/publisher packs are great value, even if you have a game or two (sadly no gifting dupes).
I've already got most of the sales from earlier sales, but with the chance internet access becoming minimal in the future, I don't want to have steam in off-line mode suddenly scream for net access, It's a bit of a trek to bring the tower to the nearest net connection. :}
So, I got 2 game off this site and a stack of books from the city instead.

I really don't think this is Steam trying to get back goodwill. They do this at the end of every year :D But it does make a good conspiracy coincidence.
