Don't get me wrong, I really love what this site is doing, but...
A lot of games added recently are from the 2000s. Maybe I'm becoming olded, but for me, "good old games" are from end of 80s and the 90s.
More, most of those 2000s games are already XP compatible, and about Vista... I don't really understand how someone can be a PC gamer and in the same time using Vista... but that's just my point of view... and it's another debate.
So, when will we have the pleasure to play *good old* 80s and 90s games?

The problem was discussed on different occasions on these forums. The official statement may be found here.
Cheers!
it seems that tracking down the owners of "modern" software is easier when compared to "old" software, hence there are more "modern" games on this site currently
This has already been a lengthy discussion in several threads.
While GOG is trying to get games that are from the 80's and 90's, there can be many obstacles that will delay or prevent that. It is significantly harder to find the correct rights holder to negotiate with for game that old. The rights are likely to have been sold and re-sold over the years to multiple publishers. When they do get a new rights holder, like the recent acquisition of JoWood's library, they can only give us what the rights holder gave them. So if they are only willing to offer is the newer old games, that's all GOG has (for now). The good part about that is, if GOG can show that there is a market for older games by selling a good number of the not quite as old games, then those rights holders might be more willing to release the really old games in the future.
Also, without giving out any specifics, the GOG guys have said that more really old games are in the pipeline, so just be patient, you will eventually get your wish.
So 9 years is not old enough to be old? ;)

We've got games a lot newer than that on here already. Darkstar One is from 2006, Disciples 2 is from 2005, Painkiller is from 2004 (despite what it says on the game info page)...
stfu, sensible soccer 2k6.
I don't really see the problem. These games aren't considered retro, but they are still aging and still good.
I don't see the problem in a large games catalogue?

like mentioned in another thread, Old probably just means familliar.

Weclock: like mentioned in another thread, Old probably just means familiar.

Lol, this is most likely true... I for one am happy for some of the more recent games; I haven't been a pc gamer for a while now, but GOG is bringing me back, and I'm finding there are some pretty good games that I missed the first time around.
I feel it's well warranted. Try to find a PC game older than 18 months or two years on the shelf now.

some are easy, and some are hard. I used to be able to find Age Of Empires 1 & 2 at Walmart, but they since have moved on.

I find that really depends on the game. Big sellers are relatively easy to find even years later, but the "cult classics", i.e. games that were critical successes but not sales successes, are virtually impossible to find. For example, my local WalMart and Target are both still selling the PC version Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 for about $20. But at the same time, a game like Psychonauts, which is roughly the same age as KotOR 2 (4 years old), is impossible to find on the store shelves, despite being a well-reviewed game.

Aye, I know you can find a few but it's very hit and miss. If GoG succeeds in getting more and more games up, then it will serve to alleviate that problem to a great degree.
*edit* and the way I'm seeing PC game shelf space shrinking, it will only get tougher to find older games on the shelves, even older best sellers.
