I'm looking for another Adventure game after finishing Indigo Prophecy. Looking at reviews for these games doesn't help me at all because adventure games aren't my forte due to a few reasons that others may love. What are some of the adventure games from the catalog that have
1)Puzzles that make sense and aren't something where you spend hours trying to get something obtuse to work.
2)A strong story, I don't play adventure games for the puzzles but for the compelling stories they pack.
3)On sale at the moment on GoG so I can take advantage of that.
So far I have The Longest Journey , Beneath A Steel sky and Lure of the Temptress.

adventure games without obtuse puzzles? Er... can't think of any. Then again they aren't my forte either.
Try Machinarium though. You can get it direct from the devs, and it might still be on offer.
I just finished Sanitarium and I can vouch for it's lack of stupidly unintuitive puzzles and it's interesting story.
Well, you can't go wrong with the Broken Sword series. The story is among the very best of adventure games.
Simon the Sorcerer is old-school, whimsical, 90s style ... but be prepared for some real trial-and-error puzzle solving.
Then you've got The Feeble FIles, which is very unique. It has it's share of strange puzzles, but then again what would you expect from such a game. Very detailed, very rich, although it has a few technical flaws - but nothing that ruins the gameplay.
Oh yes, and Sanitarium. You should not miss out on Sanitarium.
I guess you could mention Myst and Riven too, although they're the archetype of obtuse puzzle games, the story is also very good.

+1 to sanitarium.
That is one of my favorite adventure games of all time, the story is very memorable for it's creepy atmosphere and characters.
Most of the puzzles are ok, but I do remember one puzzle that had me scratching my head a bit at the "how would I know this" type of thing.
Now if gog could get the SYberia series on here, that'd be another great one, and still life.
Hm I haven't played it but Dark Fall might be your ticket.
It's not on here but Omikron was made by the same dev of Indigo Prophecy...err also the latter game was censored..you should try the Euro version called Fahrenheit sometime.
Play Heavy Rain when it comes out of course, if you have a PS3. ;)

Definitely Sanitarium.
Sanitarium. Go get it.
Another vote for Sanitarium. I'd also say The Longest Journey would definitely qualify if it wasn't for one particularly obtuse puzzle.
The Tex Murphy series are some of my favourites, and I'd say Sanitarium or The Longest Journey (probably) if my credit cad would work.
I'd recommend The Longest Journey. The puzzles are mostly alright and logical with a few exceptions, but its overall one of the greatest adventure games out there.
The tex murphy series.. I've only played under a killing moon. The puzzles were often borderline nonsensical and more comical. The game, even though it uses real actors is made in a extremely comical manner. If you are looking for a serious story then don't look for Tex Murphy.
On the plus side, it has a very helpful in-build hint system pretty much ensuring that you will never get stuck.
Simon the Sorceres is great fun but the puzzles are a bit on the crazier side.. anyhow, it should not be missed.
My number #1 pick would probably Discworld 1 and 2 but alas they are not on here so they don't qualify.

DosFreak: LucasArts series of Adventures (Steam)

Direct2Drive has it on sale for $2.50, for one cent more you can own it without being tied to the Steam client.
Dark Fall is quite good, well worth the sale price. :) There's one overarching puzzle that can be a bit tricky to figure out, but not too awful. (Not that there's no clues to the puzzle, it's that you'll likely find most of the pieces before you come across the location where the explanation is, then go "Ohhhh, I knew those thingies were important, now I get it!").

Dark Fall is excellent. I never had too much of a problem solving the puzzles (and they are actual puzzles not just item fetching) and the story is compelling. It gets even more points for having a great atmosphere. It's also marked down like 35% right now IIRC.
Broken Sword2 or Sanatorium, both have excellent stories and 'sensible' puzzles
