Urb4nZ0mb13: So whens that going down?

When it's done ;). No, seriously, I don't want to promise you anything. It's a pretty big update and we want to make sure that every single detail is polished.

Urb4nZ0mb13: The shelf thing looked really neat, I had some questions about that but I suppose they will be answered in time. I guess I was just hoping we could talk/speculate on it.

Feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer all your questions regarding first GOG.com update (without spoiling too many surprises :)

pkt-zer0: Is the virtual shelf only capable of listing games you actually bought at GOG, or can it display games you have from somewhere else (originals) or games you don't yet own (wishlist)?

The shelf will be the part of My Account section at GOG.com (My Games tab) and it's meant to display games you've bought here. Basically it's a new way to browse and rearrange your GOG collection (yes, you can drag & drop games on your shelf :). As for showing games you want to buy / bought not at GOG.com - that's an interesting idea but not for this update.

pkt-zer0: Is it strictly a shelf thing in terms of display with huge pretty images and game boxes, or can it also be viewed as a handy little text-only list?

The classic "list view" is still there :).

Urb4nZ0mb13: Also, what kind of community enhancements specifically? Mods, a delete button, etc.?

The biggest thing on the forums will be a redesigned, more functional, main page and a new skin. Apart from that lots of small improvements and fixes based on all feedback from our community. I cannot post the complete list of changes at this point, as some things are still being worked on and... well... we don't want to spoil all the surprises to early ;).
I can tell you that among improvements on the forums there will be an option to track posts by GOG.com Team as well as improved search that scans the whole topics, not just topic names. Also, a ton of small bug fixes, like for example a better support for special characters in the post contents.
PS: We'll give out more details closer to the update :)

kebsis: Could there be an option for a more down to earth, aluminum Ikea shelf?

Hey, wooden shelves aren't passé yet ;-P.
Now, seriously, the idea for "skinnable" shelf is pretty interesting, we'll see about it. But it's definitely a post-Update1 thing.
We'll complete the update soon, we're testing it a bit more.
It's sooner rather than later though :)

rfc: Absolutely. I don't understand at all why such decisions have to be absolute. Why can't I just reverse all votes I gave?

This is one of the small improvements that will be introduced with the GOG.com Update 1. I'm preparing the final changelist now and I'll try to post it later this week. Also, as the team is back from the Holidays, expect the update very soon! :)
