I've been looking at picking up one of the new Archos Internet Media Tablets (probably the 7), and thinking that a lot of these old adventure and strategy games that don't require really quick reflexes to play would be really fun on that mobile platform. I'm guessing the OS on the Archos is locked down fairly tight in terms of what can be loaded on to it and what cannot.
Too much work? Or am I overestimating what these machines can do?
i havent personally got one, but after looking at a review from mobiletechreview on youtube i think youre asking a lot of the machine.
the resolution is supported, and linux is certainly capable of emulating some stuff through wine.
i think it would be a challenge and a half to get games on it.
you would be best advised to try one of the free games on here (beneath a steel sky for example) before shelling out hard cash for loads of games in the hope that they work.
if beneath a steel sky doesnt work, what with scummvm having native linux support, then nothing will.
and steel sky is small enough for it not to be such a chore to get the game onto the machine.
I'm interested if someone could get the two free games working on their psp, I know there's scummvm for psp..
One thing's for sure: Wine will not work... aside from software issues, the system simply runs the wrong kind of CPU for that. ScummVM might work, but be sure to check whether Archos actually allows third party software at all.
Sorry, I have only a PSP 3000, which for now means: No homebrew.

I recently sold my PSP 2000 because the dpad stopped working, so I wouldn't be able to tell. The only reason to get a PSP is for homebrew.. I might just go for a GPX instead.
Still keep my old Tapwave Zodiac around for that :)

I just got both of them running perfectly on my PSP using the latest version of scummvm for PSP.
