It's a polished shooter. It looks good and plays smooth. The only reason to knock it is its story which is sort of a strange love drama with a sci-fi coating all around it.

But if I wanted stories, I'd rent a DVD - as a game it's a decent solid shooter, nothing ground breaking but was better than I was expecting.

I think what impressed me the most was the polish. Normally something that looks that good doesn't run that smooth.

Same thing as Prey - it ran as well as it looked.

So, what is so good about Culpa Innata?

The synopsis sounds pretty interesting, but it's kinda hard for me to get into point-and-clickers these days.

The story is very good and atmospheric, puzzles are well designed and logical(some are rather challenging) and the characters are interesting. Voice acting is pretty good and the graphics decent.

In my opinion the game is very good, but of course, it will not please everyone. It's not that long game and the ending is quite...well...umm...you know, it needs a sequel :)

But I liked the game and would recommend it. But it's only my opinion, cannot say if you would like it or not :)

I'm toying with the idea of picking up Fantasy Wars. I don't know anything about it other then it's a TBS and the precursor to Elven Legacy though.

I never picked up EL due to each map having a time limit. I'm not so fond of being hamstrung on how to place a TBS. Does Fantasy War have that as well?

I like the look of it too. What I don't like the look of is the Starforce it comes with. Now I know that GG refund activations. That's not the problem. The problem is that your first activation will probably be wasted by Starforce utterly destroying Windows. Yeah... never again. So either I get that game here or I just don't.

I can't speak for Fantasy Wars, but if the time limit is stopping you from purchasing Elven Legacy, I should point out that Easy difficulty in EL actually has no time limit. Gold and silver victories still require you to finish in a certain number of turns, but you won't fail the map for taking too long. I was somewhat frustrated by the time limit, as well, until I figured this out.

Easy mode still isn't a walk in the park, though, at least not for me (perhaps you're a lot more skilled than I am). I'm certainly not bored, so I don't mind playing it on easy if it means getting rid of the time limit.

Fantasy Wars campaign mode has turn limits for each mission. In other words if you can't complete the main goal by x number of turns, you lose the stage and have to start over or from your last save.

And I will say that the mission in FW that I'm stuck on right now has a magic relic that I just don't have enough turns to go get and complete the main quest but I'm attributing this to having a smaller than necessary army resulting from not earning good enough financial reward from previous levels.

So mostly FW is dependent on how well you ace each stage and how much coinage you earn for each stage.

Are there skirmish maps, and if so do they have the turn limit too?

Let me look real quick.

There's skirmish against AI - that's one of the main reasons I got the game. I would think there are no time/turn restrictions unless you opt for them when setting up your skirmish but lemme double check.

The turn limit is kind of a deal breaker for me. It's not that I can't do turn limits, it's just that I don't like them. I like playing games at my own pace not at some arbitrary pace designed by the game.

If there's options to turn it off for Skirmish maps, it may be worth looking into.

Ok, I gave a thorough inspection and the developers have reelly made this confusing.

There is a single mission option which offers four bonus mission (you probably unlock more as you work through campaign) those are all definitely turn limited.

If you go into mutiplayer there are two options 'LAN/NET' and 'Hot Seat'

Hot Seat offers the same five different gameplay scenarios that LAN does but LAN will allow you to set the turn limit or turn it off and hot seat won't. You just have to host your own game and select 'Computer' for all of your opponents.

Also, out of those five skirmish scenarios only three of them can be played against AI. The other two are dependent on another human player.

You've given me some good information. I think I'll ponder Fantasy Wars for a while. It'll either be FW or Disciples 2 Gold I pick up. I've played D2 before, so I know what I'm getting there. But FW does intrigue me.

Fantasy Wars is hard, incredibly hard. Be aware this is one of those games that you play each level multiple times until you figure out the winning strategy.

I have Disciples Gold II as well and would say that it has more longevity for the solo gamer than Fantasy Wars does.
Apparently you then have to replay it some more to perfection to earn enough bling to purchase your army for the next stage and be able to keep most of that army alive for upgrading or selling for the level after that.
