tinyE: I have F2 but haven't played it yet. Should I go vanilla and then this or just jump into this?
I played vanilla and it was still ok.

Also 2 words of advice:

1. This game is way harder in the beginning than Fallout 1 since here you are completely naked (as in no weapons and supplies at the start) and only start with a spear, it screws over people who prefers guns in the beginning, but later in the game you get stronger and better and thankfully that Power Armors in this game is still as powerful as they were in Fallout 1.

2. DO NOT PUT AWAY QUEST ITEMS ANYWHERE, ALWAYS KEEP IT ON YOUSELF OR PUT IN THE TRUNK OF YOUR CAR!!!

I can't express that enough it screwed me over when I lost a quest item thats needed to get to the end of the game.

Elmofongo: Anyway you say there is cut content in Fallout 2 such as no children NPCs, but I played the game unmodded and there were still children in the games and I saw one (SPOILER)
avatar
jamotide: Crosmando did not mention either children or NPCs.

Anyway, they were only cut on from versions for countries where people go out murdering kids as soon as they see it on screen.
But I thought GOG was selling the UK/EU version of Fallout 1 and 2 which cuts out children for all regions?

NOOOOOOOOOO! NOT THE CAR!
Don't put anything important in that piece of shit broken ass car!
Thanks, will come in handy when I'll play the game.
Does the GOG installer default to the humongous installation?

I know you have to change the install path to just C:\Fallout 2 if memory serves me from the last time i used the restoration.
Some more stupid queries. My F1 is loaded with all sorts of stuff that increases the resolution, options, and overall look. It doesn't change the game in terms of story or basic technique, it just makes it smoother and better looking. Is this a similar thing only for F2?

You mean the resolution patch? The resolution patch is included in the RP for F2, but you can still play the game in the old 640x280 resolution (full screen or windowed), resolution can be changed via the "f2_res_Config" utility in your Fallout install folder, or via the main menu of the game itself.

Also the new version of the resolution patch has fog of war options if you want that.

I'm sold. Thank you my friend! :D
Dont save in the Kaga encounter.

I found him once and he mopped the floor with me, found him again and saved at the start of combat, died again and the save game no longer runs.

"The instruction at 00456380 referenced memory at 000003ec
The memory could not be read from

Click OK to terminate the application"

there does not seem to be a solution (apart from restarting cause im an idiot and only used 1 save slot) it also may not be the restoration project that caused it, it could be coincidental

I'd post this in the thread I linked, a CTD is a pretty big deal and Killap would want to know.

Oh right, I would post on your behalf if you wanted, but Killap would most likely ask for your save-game...
