Finally tired it. Sadly, I was not impressed. Maybe I've been spoilt with the visuals from Mirror's Edge, but this just feels and looks too clunky for my liking and I just can't seem to enjoy it =/.
i played the demo i can def getinto your head grat a.i thou
I'm not sure. It felt a little old to me. Sure, there were some freaky moments and the Shogo-sequence was fun, but other than that it just felt like yet another corridor shooter. The original Fear had some very well designed combat areas that, despite the fairly bland surroundings they were set in, still managed to be quite memorable. That didn't seem to be the case here.
But whatever, I'll probably buy it eventually because I'm a sucker for first person shooters, and I have enjoyed most of Monoliths previous games.
Also, NOLF 3 plz.

The game engine runs really well with old computers. I was heavily impressed with the tweaks and improvements over the original clunker that the first game ran on. It looks really good too, even on Medium setting (at the cost of bullet decals).
Unfortunately, the cool stuff from the first game is muted - no lean, no awesome bicycle kicks, and the gunplay feels less exciting. The game felt like a Doom throwback in some spots, except that every two or three rooms there's an irritating screamer.
The horror part of the game doesn't really work with the FPS portions - every two or three dudes I shot in the face usually meant that I was going to get a screamer or something scary from Alma. The problem with the horror is that it's so boring and cliched that it becomes more of an annoyance than scary - I actually told Alma to go to hell during one of her cutscenes because she was getting on my nerves. Afterwards, I got drunk on a fifth of Bacardi and called Casper the Friendly Ghost a bum over my cellphone.
It looks good and it runs well, and there are also mechs you can pilot and use to kill soldiers with. Unfortunately, there's not much else beyond that.
I enjoyed the demo, but I agree that the scares started getting old, as FatDiva said, every couple of guys I'd kill meant that something would jump at me. But it ran really well on my machine, it was all on low and it still looked great, I probably could've tweaked it to get better looking graphics, but I just wanted to try the demo and go to bed, so I didn't bother, but still felt it looked good. I also like the guns. Less scares, more bad guys to shoot, and this game could be awesome.
The demo was awesome. Props to Monolith; they're one of my favorite companies. From Blood to Shogun to Condemned to FEAR, those guys sure know how to make one hell of a game.
