You know, some company has re-issued some lucasarts adventure games (such as Full Throttle, CoMI and Grim Fandango) here in Poland. Seeing as CD Projekt, the people behind GoG are Polish as well, I'll have to check if they're not the people behind it (because I don't remember at the moment).
If they are, this would mean that they already have the rights to distribute locally, and that's a step in the right direction. If not, then there are more hoops to be jumped, but it's apparent that it's doable and it's not like LucasArts clings to its property so tightly that they never ever want to re-relase it ever again, as some of you seem to imply ;)

All the adventure games should be on here, small size and they would sell like hotcakes with very few adventure games coming out these days. I wouldn't mind Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and Tie Fighter as well.

Lucasarts is very protective of its property.
Many adandoware sites had to remove 20 year old games cause Lucasarts told them to (while still hosting copyrighted material from other companies)
additionally. Re-releases of their games are pretty common. A year ago I bought GF, Monkey Island 3. Few months ago I got Full Throttle and the dig.
Also one can find Racer fairly easy here in Australia.

You seem to be confusing abandonware sites (which, despite often being the only way to get your hands on some old games, are legally questionable) with legitimate distribution channels, where the original producer of a game gets SOME share of the profits.
However, the case I presented with my previous post, as well as your own, shows that LucasArts are reasonable enough to re-release their games when nostalgia factor starts to guarantee profits.
D2D, Steam and GoG are not abandonware sites. They are distribution channels. This makes LucasArts much more likely to make their titles available here.

It was just small example showing how Lucasarts is 'paranoid' about their property and how improbable it is for them to let GOG handle their games since it will involve 'tinkering' with the game itself (same goes with gametap, steam, d2d)
not that it is impossible.
but more probable is that they will create their own digital distribution system like EA did.

As sad as I am to say it, some companies, like Infogrammes and LucasArts will see G.O.G. as a corner mom and pop store, while they see themselves as multinational chain stores. In other words, will just not deal with a perceived 'little guy'. :(

There are other good adventures aside from LucasArts's like Simon the Sorcerer (I & II), Broken Sword (I & II), Legend of Kyrandia, Toonstroock...

I honestly don't understand why companies won't do stuff like this..I mean it's not like the games are making them money anyway. And what are people going to do if they want to play a game that isn't available to buy?

Well it wont happen till the site starts doing better and companies see that their old products can make them money again and start letting them be sold on here.
And that wont happen till WE start emailing them, making petitions to send to companies saying we would like to see and pay for their products on here, and start getting on other forums or our blogs and start telling other people about this site that have never heard of it so traffic picks up.
So if you really want to see your old favs on here then we all need to get the word out, just sitting and saying "well Im not doing it someone else will and Ill just reap the benefits" wont get you anywhere because everyone else will be doing the same thing and then no one will get other peoples attention.
Really though this is a small site and will just dissapear into obscurity if the people who support it dont help out, this obviously isnt a multi million dollar company running gog so they wont be running tv and magazine advertisements out the ying yang. So they need the communitys help to get going.
So please write lucasarts or whoever you want a email explaining this site, your a member, and would actually pay money to play their games from here. They get enough of those and they will pay attention.
