I see GG has Elven Legacy on sale, but I am wondering how good of a game it is and is it worth the $15.00 price tag?
Is it anything like Age of Wonders, I wish so.
So what are the good, bad, and ugly parts to the game, please?
In fact I wish GOG would get the Age of Wonders series, that would be sweet.

It's more like Panzer General with elves; Fantasy General, if you ever played that one.

No I have not. Do you own it, and is it worth the money, and if so why?
Thanks
It's a pretty good game if you enjoy turn-based tactical combat in a high-fantasy setting. However, the single-player campaign is a bit on the short side, and the game also has some issues with random crashes. If you haven't played Fantasy Wars yet then I'd recommend that game over Elven Legacy, as gameplay-wise they're pretty much exactly the same, but Fantasy Wars has significantly more content in the single-player campaign. You can also download the demo for Elven Legacy (and the demo for Fantasy Wars [url=http://www.gamershell.com/download_20855.shtml]here) to see if the gameplay is something you find enjoyable.
I was surprised, I quite enjoyed the demo. It's a good bit of tactical fun, not overwhelming like I expected. I'd bet its definitely worth $15.

More fun than Fantasy General? I really liked FG.
Thanks for the replies and direction. I went to check it out at Amazon and bought it with one click shopping without realizing it until I did it!
So, I guess I own it, but it will be the boxed version for $5.00 more ($20.00 for the game).

Much prefer boxed versions myself. GOG is the only exception. ;)

Same here, but today that is getting harder to accomplish. Since I only want DRM Free games it is hard to find them on disk many times.
I have been buying from GamersGate, but only realized this past week that GG needs an internet connection to install games even if you save the load files to disk, or that is how I understood the FAQ anyway.
That saddens me, as I am now less likely to buy many more games from them.

You can get around that. Before you install, go to your download folder and copy the entire folder for the game (it will be in a Gamersgate Temporary Files folder ). That copy of the folder will maintain the Setup.exe file that won't require an Internet connection to install.

I think I read that doesn't work anymore...
If you can verify otherwise, I will consider buying from there. :)

It does still work. But you have to be very ****ing quick with some games as they will revert the setup file back to the launch file within a matter of a second. Most however, won't actually revert back until the installer finishes (giving you plenty of time) -- however, as they use SecuROM on some of their games you still need an initial online connection when activating, but I guess you could find some way around that too...
I only buy DRM Free games from GG, so what are the steps to make sure I can do this offline?
I am still not sure what you are telling me to do here.
Thanks
Okay, once the downloader is finished, it switches over to becoming an installer, correct? BEFORE you actually go ahead with the installer, navigate to the folder where you downloaded to. You will see a folder there called Gamersgate Temporary Files. Within that one will be a numbered sub folder...that is the game download. Now, while the installer is working, a Setup.exe file exists. Once the installer is finishes, the Setup is gone as well. That's why you need to do this BEFORE installing.
Copy the entire numbered folder anywhere you want on your system. It doesn't matter where, just copy the whole numbered folder. You can rename that copy whatever you want. It will have the Setup.exe in it even AFTER the installer is done. Either keep that copied folder on your PC, put it on an external drive, burn it to a disc, put it on a memory stick, whatever you want to do to store it. If you ever want or need to reinstall, you can use that and it WON'T have to access the Internet.

Crassmaster, that was immensely helpful, thank you! :o) +1
