And? I'm sorry but I don't see the relevance of knowing how old your account is. It doesn't have any bearing on the fact that *anyone* can disable Steam Guard for their account.

You may also change your password to 1234 , and it doesn't mean anything but the fact you would be stupid to do so.

I was registered there but I used some ancient password that is on nothing important. Still scary though, you never know what they could do with your name and email and other info.

How would I know, you're the one who first mentioned Steam Guard. Why did you mention it? It certainly has very little to do with the information Valve store on their servers -- stored regardless of your Steam Guard settings. It also has no connection to the fact that changing passwords, etc., deletes that information, again regardless of your Steam Guard settings.

All Steam Guard does (at the moment) is give you peace of mind in the event a phisher manages to con your account out of you and not your email account attached to it as well (i.e., it's meant to protect Valve's customers from their own stupidity).

I was reffering to the fact, that ability to steal someone's STEAM ACCOUNT is now very low.

I don't store my CC information in there either. I prefer to provide this info anytime I make purchase than to risk stealing such data.

You forget that episodic games were meant to make shorter games come out faster. Given how long it's taken for each of the half-life episodes, how long do you think it'll take for a full game?

I second this suggestion. Also, it's best not to use the same password across multiple accounts unless you don't plan on keeping them too secure.

I would speculate that the script kiddies in question hacked into the Deus Ex mailing list.

I suspect that one day hacking will be taken far more serious than it is now, and those responsible for the the acts which led to that escalation will be regretting their childish actions. Perhaps they should do something actually useful, like bring down kiddie porn sites.

I agree with you. In the 90's, hacking was something of science fiction. Now it happens everyday. Yep, child porn sites should be removed, but as soon as you take one down, anouther will pop up in its place.
