I've been meaning to get this for a long time. Now that it's on 50% discount, I might actually get the boxed version. Problem is, is anyone still playing this? Are there still populated Asian servers around, or does the game play well on higher latencies?
I never did bother playing it online in the end, but considering it's still getting updates and they are planning on rolling out new demigods, I'd expect it is still being played. As to how well it handles online; you're probably better off looking at the Impulse forums and judging from there.
there's a huge update coming out, I'd get it on sale thru Impulse, but I don't know anything about Asian servers, you should ask the guys over at impulse.
Give League of Legends a shot imo.
Its a much better Free4Play MOBA game.

I would reccomend Heroes of Newerth over either Demigod or LOL.

I believe those games are free because of beta only right now?
Anyway, Demigod doesn't have much to offer right now, after the patch it'll be better, and hopefully GPG will have seen their competition and know now what they need to do to fix it.
I found Demigod very entertaining and addictive, though I mainly played against computer opponents. AFAIK these other games doesn't have that possibility?

Well I am referring to buying HON. I played a bit of it, and if that style of game is for you, HON is amazing. It's brutal and cut throat though, whereas I hear LOL has a lot more leeway for casual play/new players.
It's good. But it does need more content for long term appeal. Given that there's additional content (still) on the horizon, I'd say it's worth getting.
It is quite cool but i have never played multiplayer. Single player is fun though, but you cant really get hard core addicted to it because it can get repetative, should be some time before that happens thogh. Another problem (as far as i know) is that when you turn up the difficulty it just makes the AI level up quicker opposed to smarter AI. But then i supposes there really isnt much room to improve?
I think that the multiplayer might be to elitist though, from what i have played in singleplayer it seems that there is really room to make super effective combos and anti noob stuff. I really hate that.

Agree with this post completely. Heroes of Newerth is the better game because it has more depth and has a longer lasting appeal.
I bought Demigod simply because I enjoyed GalCiv and Sins so much but Demigod is very much a GPG game and not a Stardock game. There really is no singleplayer mode to speak of and no tutorial either. TBH I still don't understand what I am supposed to be doing and with only a very elitist multiplayer community to 'help' I can safely say I wasted my money.

I found out a lot through gamefaqs.

I've looked through whats there and its extremely sparse. There is not even a proper guide to the game. Basically throwing a person in head first without even telling them what it is they have to do is sloppy especially for Stardock's standards. I can fully appreciate what they wanted to do with the whole RTS-Counterstrike thing but even Counterstrike has a training mode. A basic tutorial is a must for any game just so a new player knows how the game mechanics work.

Start a single player game on with easiest possible enemys put your allies on normal so they can do all the work for you and just take your time with it. My first game was mostly spent hovering the mouse over buttons and reading the tooltips as to figure out what was what.
