I watched the video and clicked around the website and I'm still not sure I understand it. I think I'll have to try the demo to understand what this game is.

larsiusprime: We're planning on adding some new features to the game, and anyone who buys now will get free updates.

We're not saying too much just yet about what all the extra features will be, but I can say that we'll have more challenges, items, secrets, a few new story scenes as well. In particular we want to focus on end-game content and "endless" challenge modes to give people a lot more to do once you've beaten the main game.
I bought the game earlier today and see that it has the ability to auto update. When you release updates, do you also update the .exe hosted on fastspring or perhaps release patches?

Otherwise, it seems that people with offline computers would be stuck on the earliest version.

EDIT: Never mind, I see now that the auto-update downloads an installer for the new version. Some people might call that inconvenient, but I'm a fan of this way of doing things. It means I can keep an offline backup of the latest version.

Hey guys, sorry to necro this super old thread, but I wanted to let everyone here know that we will be releasing Defender's Quest on GOG on October 30th!

I've talked to GOG about getting some access keys for our previous customers, though after October 30th new purchasers should buy the game right here on GOG :)

This will be the new GOLD version of the game, with tons of updates since you played it last in January, including a full-featured New Game+ mode that more than doubles the original game's content.

You'll also be getting some goodies with your purchase, including a short pdf book with character biographies, the game's full soundtrack, wallpapers, high-res art, the usual stuff.

The game will be $9.99 USD (33% off) for the first week, then $14.99 afterwards. The GOG version of the game will be available for Mac and Windows.
Just watched the trailer. I like how the story is written by an actual English major :P

Looks interesting. Downloading the demo now.

Woo, congratulations!

Also hooray for GOG keys.

EDIT: Yeah, another surprise release that isn't a surprise. They can pretend it's a surprise though!

Smashing! Defender's Quest was far and away one of the best, most fun, and most addictive games I've played this year, matched only by FTL. There were actually a few times during my last job where I was barely functional during the day, thanks to me pulling some all-nighters in your game.

Despite the attention this game's gotten on places like RPS, and the seasonal bundle promos where this game has been found, it's almost criminal that more people haven't heard of it. I'm hoping that with a GOG release, it'll get more of the recognition that it so richly deserves.

Wow, that would be super awesome, thanks a lot! I wish all indie devs were as customer-friendly as you! Also, congratulations for getting the game on GOG! :)

That would be awesome. Big thanks for this. Looking forward to your updates ;-)

The game is using Adobe Air and there is also a Mac-version, so good news also for our Macianer.

I enjoyed this game and I'm glad you made it on GOG. Well, cutscenes pictures were ugly, but I think they were redrawn in GOLD version? I think the main weakness is the story now, i really didn't like it, but hey, this is a tower defense game, so shut up and buy it.
I don't get it. I just spent the last 2-3 hours playing the demo of a game that looks like it was made in Flash*, belonging to a genre that I loathe. A game that looks like I can play for free on Newgrounds.

And I absolutely loved every minute of it, to the extent that I'm seriously considering a pre-order. What gives? I demand to know what manner of sorcery thou hath cast.

*: no offense intended with regards to the graphics. I went into it thinking, "eh, maybe it'll be tolerable", and ended up liking it a lot, despite the simplicity of the colour palette.
Awesome. I'll get this one.

I played demo long time ago when SirPrimalform mentioned it in TD thread and liked it a lot. I considered buying it but then I somehow forgot about it until now.

It is first tower defense game released here if I am not mistaken.
Oh. The comments in the release thread should be interesting then.
